I was dx with Lyme only a few months back and was blessed to have a Dr take me serious. I did 2 weeks of Doxy while waiting for a second western blot and cd-57 to come back. I herxed pretty much immediately on the Doxy for a week hard. I will also mention that Dr did test for co-infection and nothing came back. Yea. It's guesstimated that I have had Lyme for 20 years now. I've never felt right. Always tests and docs. This year my health has just deteriorated at an amazing speed. When I went back for my second visit the only band to show is the same one that showed in the first igm23. My cd-57 was at 51. Dr has put me on 6 weeks of Zithromax to start unmasking. Said to expect more bands to come out of the woodworks. I've been on the Zithro for a week now and I haven't had near the experience with it that I had with the Doxy. Besides the normal aches and pains that I always have the only change I've noticed is that my body feels like I've been working out. Mainly in my back and abs. I'm curious to know what others experiences have been. I've had Lyme all these years, however I am a Lyme baby. I didn't even know much about it until June of this year.

Zith by itself is rarely used for lyme. Usually it is combined with Plaquenil or Amantadine to raise cellular PH to make it more effective against the lyme bacteria.

For co-infections it is often combined with Mepron or Malarone for Babesia and with Rifampin for Bartonella.

Who is your LLMD? If they gave you Zith alone I would be concerned at how experienced they were with Tick Borne Diseases. (TBD)

I'm on IV Zithro w/ Rocephin and Flagyl. Zithro only makes me nauseous but tolerable. Rocephin is the one that's kicking my butt!!

My initial reaction to Zith was interesting. I had electric-like shocks up and down my left leg, I was constantly on edge and I was feeling hot and cold flashes all over my body. That lasted a couple of weeks.

My does was lowered and I slowly worked up to the full dose, which is what I am taking now. No issues at all.

My Zith is combined with Malarone and Bactrim DS. I don't believe that Zith alone will do much.

Above posts are correct. Zith by itself will not do much. You may be having gallbladder pain since you are hurting in your back and abs.

I don't know of any seasoned LLMD's in Texas .. so be careful trusting a dr there to get you well.

Do lots of reading here. Check out the stickies at the top of each forum. There's a lot of info there for you.

Dr did mention introducing Flagyl half way through the 6 weeks. Didn't send me home with a rx. I have to call the office today anyway so I will probably leave a message with my concerns. I'm just ready to get this show on the road and get sick so I can feel better. I've always been such a planner and I have deff had to learn to take things day to day and slow down.
