Well, at this rate, the herbal supplements are going to bankrupt me before I'm done with treatment. sigh. I'll have to stick with the antibiotics, but now I have to determine when to stop taking the herbs so that I can save that money to cover the antibiotics. drat. I didn't think they'd be so darned expensive.

It really sucks that I've wasted so much money on wrong diagnoses and treatments before the Lyme diagnosis. grrr.

Has anyone done okay on antibiotics and diet changes alone without herbal supplements?

Jenifer - I believe the trick is to find and utilize those therapies which are inexpensive but still very effective.

For example, I spent a ton of money on supplements that raise the glutathione levels, but then I learned that coffee enemas (which cost almost nothing) are way better than any supplements at raising the glutathione... PLUS they have tons of other benefits also!

As another example, there is a current thread on this forum which is showing that 2 Brazil nuts every day is more effective at raising selenium and glutathione levels than the actual selenium supplements.

Other inexpensive yet powerful therapies:
-castor oil liver packs
-detox baths with Epsom salts
-HEALTHY DIET!!!!! (some people actually save money by cutting out the junk food)

Also, you could easily learn how to make milk and water kefir, and those are like "free" probiotic supplements. Plus they have other health benefits.

There are a lot more inexpensive therapies like these, but I'm having trouble remembering them now.

The trick is to be creative.

A sauna home will help you in the long run to make the antibiotics work better while it can cost like a few months of herbs bottle to start with .
James had great recomendation.

Start with antibiotics at least babs so you have energy and to go to work ..hope and pray you are not disable.

Isn't it crazy that herbs/supplements can cost so much?? I was sitting here going over my inventory and I realized I spend over $300 a month in probiotics alone! My monthly expense is well over $1,000! So I'm trying to figure out how to make this all work. If I invest in a Biotensor, a PE-1 or even a sauna, BOTH my dauther and I can use them. Granted it will be costly up front but it's a one time fixed price.

Rather then keep spending money on herbs like Artemisinin which I can't tolerate, I should find something else that works. I have a boxful of herbs that I cannot take... and they are not cheap. The Artemisinin was $58. It's one thing if they are helping but it's another to just keep pouring money down the drain!

Yeah, I'm into my second month on the herbs and I really can't say if the herbs are helping or not. Other than some of them being pretty gag like. yuck. I see an LLND who prescribed the herbs and a different LLMD who prescribed the antibiotics.

I had another of those "food insanity" phases where I would eat everything in sight. I wonder if I would be better off with a good probiotic and multivitamin versus the other stuff.

I have an appointment with the LLMD in October and plan to see if I can get his opinion, too.
