I have been having stomach cramping the past couple days and diarrhea. I want to get rid of this infection.

Has anybody experienced this on Mepron and what did you do ?

I'm sure you're aware you have to take it with plenty of fat, or it can upset your stomach.

Are you sure you're taking it with at least 23 grams of fat, which is a lot of fat, especially in the morning?

Your liver is toxic due to killing babs , yes I used to have diearea once I started an antimalaria drug or malarone or mepron.

Liver hurts due to the bugs and toxins of infection being killed. Can you stop and take smaller dosages so you can handle it.Than ramp up slowly , you are killing other infections as well.
Have you clean the parasites ?Have you ever done a liver flush ?

How about trying a castor oil pack on your liver?

Hope you feel better fflutterby. I'm so sorry....

I am only at 1/2 dose now.

I just did a coffee enema, seemed to relieve it some, I have been doing castor oil packs. I cannot do a liver flush because I am allergic to citrus.

I did a GI detox just now too. Will the castor oil packs help even if I dont do the liver flushes ??

Yes!! You can search the older posts regarding how much castor oil packs helped me.

I am having a hard time w/ Rocephin IV. Seems like every other dose I have to take a rest!! I get so nauseous and so sick from this drug, it's frustrating!! So I can totally sympathize!

When I tried to ramp up my dose last week, I also got stomach cramping which radiated into my back. I had to cut back down.

You need to be careful you are eating a meal when you take it.

This disease is such a roller coaster ride. Four days ago I felt "nearly well" and was posting about quiting the abx. That lasted one day. Next morning I had sweats and hot flashes. Went immediately back on malarone but this morning I am dizzy with body pain.

I have had Babs for 17 months and have been on Mepron and Azithro 21 days on 7 days break. Yes Mepron causes GI distress like I never thought possible. I relapse with Babs when I stop Mepron. A gluten free diet has helped me with the GI problems. If that does not work try cutting out other inflammatory foods and see which is right for you.

Dear flutter, you are having a time of it, aren't you! I'm so sorry!

I see you're taking Diflucan too. Diflucan and mepron can be hard on the liver. Can you cut back on Diflucan for a bit and see it that helps?

You said, "The pain is mostly on my right side under my rib. It really hurts and so does my back."

I'm no doctor, but this is where your liver is. Do whatever it takes to take care of your liver even if it means backing off the meds until this resolves. JMHO

I agree with nefferdun. I have to take Mepron with a meal. If I don't, I get a gnawing/pain in my stomach. It usually goes away if I eat something hearty.

Thanks all, I talked to the Dr's office and he wants me to do the zith only every other day and stay with the mepron. My right side is okay today but my left is hurting still. Solid BM today. No meds as of yet. I will apply the castor oil pack to my left side to see if that helps.

Hens, I will do the diflucan every other day as well.

Neff, I am so sorry you are not feeling well. It will pass.

Words of encouragement: My therapist had babs and treated two rounds of Mep / Zith. 1st round 2 months got rid of her symptoms but coming off after a month they came back. She did another 12 (?) weeks and has not had a sign of it in three years !!

Thanks to all of you for posting, this is a rough one [Frown]

Malerone is easier, in my opinion. I encapsulate it in two different sized gelatin capsules after cutting malerone in half. Then I take both capsules. I'm on just one malerone for the past week, and hope to ramp up.

I take it with my heaviest dinner meal.
