I am having some pain on my right side and back by my shoulder blade. My llmd would like to do an ultrasound to check my gall bladder.

I am going to try the castor oil pack and have been reading about the mini flushes etc. After it but I can't use grapefruit, any other suggestions or cautions?

If it is my gallbladder how what are the symptoms for those who have been through this?

Thanks so much!

Sometimes the castor oil can cause a herx in itself because its stirring up the liver toxins/bacteria/whatever else lives there.

The miniflush does help. but I wonder if you can't use grapefruit juice, could you just drink a whole lot of lemon water the next day? Basically the mini flush minus the gf juice. It couldn't hurt.

Some liver supporting herbs would also be good in conjunction. just my opinion, hope you find something to ease your side pain. no fun.

If you are having a blockage in the gall bladder that is causing pain, I don't know if you should do a "flush."

A gall bladder flush involves eating alot of fat...usually an oil.
This stimulates the gall bladder to drip more bile into the small intestine in order to saponify the fats.

(Saponify means to break down into tiny globules. This is necessary in order for the fats to be absorbed through the intestinal walls so that the body can use them.)

On the other hand, the oil in the castor oil pack is applied to the skin over the liver and the gall bladder area.
From what I understand, it reduces inflammation and relaxes the smooth muscle tissue of the organs.

Fyrecracker, does that cause a herx?
Because I don't think it "stirs up" stuff.
Toxins are detoxified by the liver using glutathione and leave via the bile, exiting the body with intestinal waste.

The liver does not store poisons or bacteria.

You need to be careful. Your gallbladder may be inflamed and unable to move bile through causing the pain. Before lyme diagnosis I developed frequent gallbladder attacks. The pain was located in my upper back in between my shoulder blades and around my right shoulder. The pain would shoot right through to the front under my rib cage from my right shoulder. It was doubling over type of pain. At the time I had the gall bladder problem I also was very fatigued, had sore muscles, low blood pressure and problems with digestion. Any time I would eat I would develop severe gas and congestion causing pressure and pain in my upper back. They call this biliary collic. Very painful.

Doing flushes may hurt quite a bit if you have inflammation. The inflammation could be caused by the die off of bacteria. I find this happens to me. Even though I had my gall bladder removed and I started developing pain in my right shoulder and having digestion issues again. This happened to me while I was on Levoquin and ceftin for bartonella and lyme. The doctor took me off them because the medications caused to much inflammation. My liver enzymes were fine.

The doctor and I believe that the pain is from inflammation setting off my nervous system. My vegus nerve to be specific. The vegus nerve can cause that shoulder pain, along with shortness of breath, abdominal pain, problems with digestion, problems with bowel movements causing constipation, voice changes, problems swallowing and sometimes choking, neck pain, headache, migraines, heart palpitations. The best thing to do is go on a strict diet to help get the inflammation to come down and possibly back off or switch antibiotics.
Restrict fats, sugars, caffeine, do low carbohydrates, eat lots of veggies to help cleanse the body.

I had an ultrasound and it didn't show anything. You may need a hyda scan to see how the gall bladder is functioning. This is what I had done and my gall bladder wasn't working. It was to inflamed. I had it removed and all was not well afterward. My upperback pain between my shoulder blades went away but I still have problems now and then with everything else.
The discomfort I have is likely my vegus nerve being irritated. Bartonella and lyme will do this. I hope my ranting helps you in some way.
If I new back then what I know now I may have done things differently.
Surgery will also make your health become much worse because it stresses the body. This is when all of my lyme symptoms came to the surface.

Thank you all for the replies I appreciate it! I did the castor oil pack last night and am drinking lots of lemon water today and will do a Glutathione treatment in my PICC later as well. Hopefully I can get to the hospital on Friday morning for an ultrasound. I think I would be in much more pain if it was my gall bladder, but doesn't hurt to check things out and at least get a baseline for future reference. I will keep the hyda scan in mind too, thank you!
