I don't know if Diabetes has a link to Lyme or not, but I do know that some medications can cause Diabetes. The ones I know about are psych meds. There may be other meds also.

Lyme messes with your blood sugar regulation. Many people with Lyme & Co have hypo- or hyperglycemia.

Another good reason to follow a low carb lifestyle.

Were you diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2?

Both are remediable, but with Type 2 there's still hope, stillhope! [Smile] Type 2 can be cured with an easy change of diet and possibly some nutritional supplements.

Georgetown University did a study that found the vegan diet greatly reduces the need for medication and in some instances reverses it, in type two diabetes. Prior to this, the American Diabetic Association recommended a low fat diet with no red meat because it is hard on the kidneys. 70% of diabetics develop kidney disease.

Get the documentary Forks Over Knives. You will probably be able to control it with diet and weight loss if you are over weight.
My son is type one and lowered his blood sugar by 100 points just with diet.

He also used 1-2000 mg of niacinamide which helps stall beta cell destruction. I don't know if it helps with type 2. Many diabetics have improved blood sugar with LDN.

Diabetics are often low on magnesium and B12. Vitamin D is also very important. Alpha Lipoic Acid helps reduce blood sugar and also prevents/helps neuropathy.

A really good book is
"The Diabetes Solution" by Dr. Richard Bernstein

BTW, the "study" mentioned in the post above was not a scientific study done by Georgetown University. It was an unscientific article by the PCRM which is the "medical" front for PETA.
And, IMO, the American Diabetic Society should be ashamed for promoting a high carb diet for diabetics!
