Good morning everyone.

I only had one lyme test done about a year ago, which was negative. After urging from my therapist, I decided to pursue further lyme testing.

I saw an infectous disease dr and he ordered no further tests, but gave me 6 weeks of doxycycline.

I have been taking it for 2 weeks now and have been fighting the flu like symptoms and horrific joint pain and headaches.

I have been told that is a good sign, but should it last 2 weeks?

thanks! I'm starting to get really depressed that it will never get better.

oh dear, I wish I knew the answer to that question!! I am still herxing after starting abx almost a month although to be honest I have taken several breaks cause i just couldn't handle it. Maybe someone can answer your (our) question!! Did you start feeling sick about a yr ago? I did. I would think the length of herx would be related to how long you were sick, not sure though.

I am on day #16 of ABX and day #14 of feeling like crap which has gotten progressively worse each day. I think my original rash was about 30 years ago, but been really sick for 6 years.

If the herx is based on how long you've been sick I don't even want to think about how long this will last.

mamaij and gigi, we should try and keep track of our progress together since we started ABX about the same time. Feel free to PM if you want, just know that if I don't answer right away I am not ignoring you, just not up to a reply, but I will as soon as I feel better.

Hi mom2kids....wow, this sounds pretty crummy and I'm sorry you feel so bad. Sounds pretty much like me, except I had 1 day where I felt ok.
I like the idea of keeping track.
Take care

lymetoo, would you say length of illnes would play a role in length of herxing? Like if you were sick a year before treatment surely you wouldn't herx for a yr or two? I sure hope not......
