I have been dealing with treatment for Bartonella and wonder if anyone with Bart has experienced this. Into my second month of Bart meds a red bump appeared on my lower shin which crusted over. It is about one half inch in diameter and appears it may be a small ulcer. Anyone else? Thanks for any input!

Nancy I have little red dots and papules at different places all over my body, from bart. Some of them look like little blood blisters above the skin
It could be the treatment is working driving it from where it is hiding
I know when I started treating bart I got very Inflamed sore gumes
It felt like My gums and Jaw were on fire, A few weeks ago my one gum began to bleed and a few days later the pain went away and my gums cleared up, The think the infections leaked out through my Gum
Bart can cause all kinds of skin problems ,

My husband had what sounds like a similar bump, also on his shin. It started out as a red bump, didn't go away, and then crusted over. After a couple of months, he showed it to the internist, who advised him to have it removed and biopsied because of its irregular borders. It was benign.
He has never tested positive for bart, but has treated for it. Bart does cause shin pain, so perhaps that could explain the location...although bumps and lesions definitely show up in other areas, as Big John attests.

Here is a bart symptom from page 26 of Burrascano:
"Tender sub-cutaneous nodules along the extremities, especially outer thigh, shins, and occasionally along the triceps."
Since your bump is on the shin, I would highly suspect it is from bart.

Thanks everyone.....I do believe it is a Bart symptom also. I do have tiny lumps UNDER the skin along my shin bone also, but this one is ABOVE the skin and nasty looking. Always something new popping up with Bart!

Well, shortly after I was diagnosed, I got a sore on my neck that never cleared up. It was a little larger than yours. Had it for months. A lyme support leader told me it sounded like a "lyme lesion." I have never heard of that since then.
However, my doc sent me to a dermatologist to have it biopsied, and it was benign. Then, it went away. I forget what type of med the dermatologist gave me for it--was years ago. The dermatologist gave the sore a name. Forgot that also.
So, you could go to a dermatologist just for the peace of mind, and it could be that he can tell you what it is and treat it. That's what happened to me.

Shortly before I was diagnosed with lyme, I had a bump on my upper back that didn't clear up. I went to my PCP, and they aspirated the lump. It came back positive for e-coli, and I was put on antibiotics.
Later, went to a plastic surgeon to remove the cyst that was left, and asked him to culture the tissue. (He said he never cultures tissue). It came back positive for gram negative bacteria, and few e-coli.
During the 21 days that I was on Ceftin for the e-coli, I discovered that my new "arthritic symptoms" resolved. That was my beginning of searching to find antibiotic therapy, and ultimately lyme treatment.
