Well, it was a good run, but after 4 weeks* of periferal lines, my perimedic friend is having real problems administering my IV set. (Administered at home because I am 3 hours away from Lyme doc)
Those veins she once described as "springy", "compliant", and "pliable", are now "resistant", "squirmy", and "diffusing".
Has anyone experienced a sudden change in veinous characteristics?
Any thoughts on PICC lines versus ports?
Do I just need better parenting skills to whip defiant veins in shape?
*yes, I know four weeks is not long...I'm a newbie...

I don't know anything on the veins issues... but if you search in the old posts I have written in detail about the pros and cons of Hickman, Port a catheter vs Picc Line.
All depending on your lifestyle and how long you are planning to stay on IV. Good luck!

Yes I think so. I've done a lot of IVs and it's weird how the best veins for IV all of a sudden don't even seem to be there (my doctors words).

One of the Ozone enthusiasts I have read says that veins will give up. He says they do with drug addicts all the time. He suggests lots of lemon juice that apparently strenghens the veins.
