I've only been ill since the end of July, but it hit me fast and hard. I went from hiking 5 miles to having to quit work literally overnight.

Started Doxy 2 weeks ago, but since I've been ramping up slowly, I've only been on the full 400mg for about 4 days.

When I started the abx, I felt a bit better than normal on day 2, then much worse for a week (do you think that was a herx, maybe? It seems like it might have been). Since Sunday I've been back to "normal" bad.

If I do have lyme, should I start feeling better anytime soon?

Still waiting on LLMD for test results, so no official diagnosis yet. No bites/attached ticks/rashes, unfortunately.

Should have results in a couple more weeks. I am hoping very much for a positive on something, just to show on paper why I feel like crap; something to verify that I am NOT imagining all of this.

I'm thinking that maybe there is some Bartonella in the mix, since my worst symptoms are psychological/cns. I also have muscle twitching, sore soles, and night sweats.

Does Doxy help with Bart symptoms? I know it's not the preferred treatment. I seem to have herxed with all of my symptoms, so maybe that is a good sign?

Thanks for all your support on here! I've not been sick for very long compared to many of you, but it's been long enough!

My parents have been great, but my best friend dumped me last week and I felt like the bottom dropped out (I relied on him a LOT--too much, I guess). I'm ok now, but sad; I realized that I was pulling most of the weight in the friendship anyway.

I have faith in God, though, which helps tremendously! I do believe bad things happen for a reason, and that there's something we can learn from sickness...

It takes time...sometimes months and months (some years) before improvement is seen.

Keep at it. What are you doing for a cyst buster? I would push for Flagyl or Tindamax in addition to you doxy. I pulsed mine for 3 days every other week. I took doxy continuously.

I concur that Bart sounds like it is in the mix given your symptoms. The sweats, twitching, sore soles, etc. All bart.

Get a test from Specialy Labs (now Quest)..their Bart test is pretty good. Also get IGENEX.

Be well

Thanks, BCB!

I just started treatment and no test results yet (we're not even certain it's Lyme), so no cyst busters. I have a phone appt in a couple of weeks to discuss lab results and treatment plans, so I'll bring it up then.

I'm almost certain my LLMD uses IGENEX. She took 15 vials of blood and sent them all over the country, so hopefully something will show up!

Very sorry to hear that you feel rotten and already had a friend bail on you! Dang!!

Yes, you were probably herxing. When you change or increase meds, the herxing can get worse.

Yeah; not such a great friend after all, but I also have friends who are sticking around, even though I'm not as much fun [Smile]

I bet I was herxing! I felt bad the whole week, but the days after I increased the dose were the worst.

Hey, me too. I got real sick in spring and started treatment in July. Didn't see results until I was up to 400 doxy AND 500 levoquin for the bart. THen I felt the results. Yeah, at first you feel pretty crappy and that last about a month.
