On so many meds, LLMD did not add probenecid.

Will Amoxy work without it? I will be at high dosage 3 x daily....don't think we are allowed to post dosage amounts....correct?

Thanks!

What's TF,and what's probenecid?? Is that what makes Augmentin?????..In the book by Pam Weintraub , I see Amoxy alone and with Zith.

Lord I've been all over the map with this stuff and it seems to just get more mysterious. [confused] [confused]

I'm taking it without probenecid. The probenecid made be sick because it has sulfur in it and I can't tolerate sulfur.

Does it work without it? I don't know. Guess my doctor thinks maybe --- it's cheap, so I'm still taking it.

Nonna, TF is a member here on lymenet who has completed treatment and is living symptom free. Probenecid is used for increasing the levels of the antibiotics in the blood and increasing their effectiveness when treating infections.

RZR-My LLMD...you know who... gave me Augmentin XR without probenicid. I know that Augmentin is different than just plain old Amoxy, so I don't know if its okay or not.

Also, I didn't herx badly off of Augmentin like I did all of my other meds but its pretty well tolerable.

I took amox with mepron, and zyth (high doses of babesia meds). I did great until around my fourth month (slid backwards).

My LLMD said sliding backwards was almost always a missed co infection, & took me off above abx and put me on abx for bart.

I did ask about adding probenicid when I was on zyth and doc told me that that is normally prescribed for people on the end phase of their treatment plan (not me since new doc found more co infections).
