Hi! I am writing to ask some of you knowledgeable people a couple of questions I have regarding my 17 yo daughter with Lyme. . . First of all, we have been starting and stopping amoxicillin since March. She is extremely sensitive to abx and we start very slowly and work up (for example, she will have 250 mg once/day for a week then move up to 250 mg twice/day for a sweek, etc.). Her LLMD wants her to work up to 500 mg 4X/day. The highest she has been up to is 1000 mg/day, then she will herx, we will stop abx for a week or two, then restart the whole process. Does this make sense??? Will the bacteria become resistant to amoxicillin??

We just started her back on it after being off for about a month following appendectomy. She is now having extreme leg pain, and shooting pain down her legs. Does this sound like a herx?? Or Lyme? I stopped the abx again 2 days ago because I thought maybe she was herxing again, but maybe it was just Lyme and I should have kept her on it??

UGH!!! I just don't know what to do!! Epsom salt baths (3 today!!), hydrocodone, trameel, lots of luids. . . That's all I know to do. Any thoughts??

Thanks so much. . .

Yes it's called pulse treatment. A lot of people have a high LD bacteria load and antibiotics just make the symptoms explode.

She probably is having strong cytokine storm reactions. LD loves the nervous system that is why it is so hard to cure. Many antibiotics don't cross into the BBB or the nervous system properly. From what I read your daughter is on a low dose but understandable if she is really sick.

The extreme leg pain, and shooting pain down her legs is most definitely LD. Also if she gets muscle twitches and vibrations that is caused by LD. Increase magnesium will help with these problems. You want a good mag citrate, or mag malate, don't get mag with calcium.

I wouldn't be concerned with resistance, take it slow she has a way's to go.

Also you need to help her with detox. Look up herxheimer lemon drink to help flush liver, Alpha Lipoic Acid, activated charcoal, milk thistle, extra water..etc

Good Luck

You might consider shorter breaks. Can she stop for 2-3 days instead of a week at a time? That's a pretty long break.
