I am interested in any thoughts on the benefits of blending instead of juicing. I know that with blending, you also receive the fiber which may be great for constipation. Juicing, however, may be easier on the GI tract?? I love my green smoothies--blueberries, strawberries, banana with kale and spinach. Seems much easier and less time-consuming than juicing. Any thoughts?!

The concept behind juicing is to keep the vitamin rich part and do away with the fiber so you can comsume a greater quantity.

Fiber is also important, so which is better depends on your purpose.

Pesticides stick to the fiber of the plant, so unless you're using organic fruits & veggies, it is probably better to use the juicer.

Kramberry, some fruits are better than others (i.e., less sugary) and some of us either don't follow the diet, or don't follow it completely.

I had the same question. Do anyone use that veggie wash spray that is supposed to wash off pesticides? I think they sell it at whole foods.

I don't buy commercial veggie wash sprays... Here's a recipe to make one yourself:

Mix the following in a sterile 1-quart bottle or bowl:

* 15 drops Grapefruit Seed Extract (Nutribiotic GSE, Allergy Research Paramycocidin, Paracan 144, Agrisept)

* 4 oz. 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (normal supermarket/drug store brand)

* 1 teaspoon Baking Soda (Arm & Hammer/other equiv. brand)

* enough clean water (purified/filtered) to fill the rest of the quart.

Soak fruit or vegetables for 15 minutes in a fresh batch of the wash mix (prepair a fresh batch of the mix daily or each time it is needed), then rinse thoroughly 3+ times in clean water - rinsing in water prevents bitter flavor from the wash mix.

Recipe may be multiplied by the number of quarts desired if a larger amount of mix is needed.

Please don't take offense to my suggestion, Razzle, but personally I wouldn't let 3% h2o2 from the store touch anything that I'm about to eat. If it doesn't say "food grade", it's full of toxic stabilizers, including heavy metals.

I do both, I have a very lazy GI so the fiber doesnt go well for me...but I'm getting HUGE detox reactions from a very little bit of juicing, so I can only do about 1/2 cup

For me personally I like juicing better. Blending makes me too full! Besides I eat plenty of fiber (pomegranates seeds for example) so I don't need help in that department.

James,

No offense taken. And I agree with you now that I know about the "other" ingredients in regular h2o2... I don't know where to get small amounts of the food-grade stuff, and got this recipe a long time ago and forgot it calls for the 3% stuff... Thanks for noticing that...

Take care,
