I have to have a laser procedure on some spots on my face, and the dermatologist wanted me off doxy for two weeks before the procedure. So I am on my first full week off. I feel ok but I am exhausted and can't stop eating! Why??

I had the shingles a couple weeks ago and although the rash is gone I am stuck with mind-blowing fatigue and muscle weakness. I thought it was my thyroid but I'm not hypo, in fact I'm slightly overmedicated but the doc says I'm ok. My liver levels are ok too. I am craving carbs, specifically high energy stuff - coke, chocolate mostly - as if my body was trying to wake itself up.

I did have a candida issue but nystatin, cutting the doxy, plus going off LDN for 2 weeks has cleared up all visible traces of candida. I'm wondering if I still have yeast somewhere making me crave the sugar, or if the Lyme is doing it, or if I have just fallen off the healthy food wagon. Or do the shingles do something like this? Any help is appreciated.

Did you get steroids for the shingles?? That will make your really crave sweets. I would say yeast....of course! [Wink]

(PS .. I've never had visible signs of yeast.)

If your thyroid hormones are a little high that can cause you to be hungry.

You could try adding some healthy fats like almonds, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, etc to your meals. That may help with the hunger.

Also make sure that you are getting enough protein, eating small frequent meals to keep blood sugars balanced.

I figured out that was happening to me because my digestion was a mess. I added parazyme digestive enzymes and if I take two with every meal...I eat normally. I stop when I'm full and I don't want to eat 8 times a day. I'm losing the excess weight. It's amazing.

blinkie.. must be because you're digesting your food better and your body is satisfied.

thanks all. Lymetoo no steroids for the shingles, just valtrex.

Blinkie I have digestive enzymes that I stopped taking last summer because I was taking so many different meds that I was losing track of them. So I can start those back up and see what happens.

Sammy my thyroid test came back with a high T3 (452 with normal range on lab being 230-420) and low TSH (.27 with range being .40-4.0). My T4 was in range at 1.02 (range .70 - 1.80). I wonder if my body is tired from being on overdrive and now it's too pooped to pop? I was switched to Armour a few months ago and we were still tweaking the dose until this last test when he said I was in a good place.

Or it is the darker hours now affecting me - depression is an issue for me in the wintertime. Better up the Vit D.

I tried armour twice and both times it made my hypo symptoms worse ... The levoxyl cytomel combo seems to work better for me .... Just a thought.

if the enzymes you have don't work, try parazyme. I've tried many and these are the best ones for me.

lymetoo-I think you are right and I bet I'll get more nourishment from my food now too.

I'm thinking it could be the Armour. I felt really good on it but now just exhausted. Odd thing is my Free T3 is too high and TSH is low. So it would seem I'm overmedicated. I don't remember feeling like this when I was overmedicated with Synthroid...hmm.

If you think it's the Armour making you feel this way, ask your doctor to slightly lower the dose.

It's hard to find the exact right dose and sometimes these things need adjusted every now and then. Sounds like you have a great doc that listens to how you feel and prescribes based on symptoms and not just labs.
