Does anyone know if there is a correlation between B12 deficiency and lymes? I am experiencing quite a bit of tingling across my forehead and my left cheek. Sometimes my cheek feels numb. Someone told me that they had very low B12 and had symptoms like this. My doctor has never tested me for any vitamin deficiencies. Not sure if this is something that most lymes patients usually get tested for. I am currently taking vitamin D because my Dr. said too, however I wasn't tested prior to taking this. Maybe it is something that is recommended for all lymes disease patients. Trying to understand if testing should be performed.

I was very low in B12. Out of all the treatments I have done over the past 2 years, B12 shots have been the most helpful in my opinion. I have a shot once a week. I can feel an immediate difference in my fatigue for 1-2 days afterwards. I'd take one every day if my doc would let me!

I took supplements before taking the shots but I couldn't tell any difference from those.

yes, there is a connection. Our situation is a bit different - daughter's B12 is very high. Apparently not being absorbed by her body, possibly to folate deficiency. ND doesn't seem really concerned.

my b12 is low too, my doc isn't concerned either~probably cause it's still in range, but the U.S. has very low ranges for B12 I think the lowest is around 300 or so and in Japan it's 500...my B12 is 338. I need to start taking supplements.

This can be caused by Lyme itself attacking the nerve tissue. One of my first symptoms was a numb, tingling left forehead and thumb. It went away with abx treatment, but still I get a numb nose or cheek or finger from time to time. After using i.m. Meth B 12 for years I`m now taking the sublingual kind.
You have to use a supplement. For me Methylcobalomin works best.
