After a four month mystery illness I was diagnosed with Lyme. I had band 23 IGM and band 18 IGG from quest.

Before I was diagnosed with Lyme I was having major tooth and face pain. The dentist gave me an antibiotic and I experienced what I now know was a herx. My right arm went weak and numb with a dull aching pain along a nerve. I was diagnosed with cervical radiculitis. Which is a rare complication from Lyme.

I had a bulls eye rash after treating for 6 weeks.

So fast forward to now. I've been treating almost a year. I have the hla dr gene for Lyme and mold. The house I was living in a year and a half ago had mold as well as my work place. I now live in a new house and work at a different place. Both mold free. My remaining symptoms are muscle twitching and tooth and face pain.

I have no fatigue anymore. I now run 5 miles every other day, lift weights, and go to hot yoga three times a week. I competed in a triathlon recently. I work full time and care for my young child. I eat a clean vegan gluten free diet and juice at least 2 times a day. At one point I couldn't even walk up the stairs I was so weak.

My CD57 was 16 and then jumped to 78. I haven't had it
checked since April. I'm only 30 and my husband and I desperately want another child.

Am I still sick or are my symptoms from the remaining biotoxins filtering throughout my body? I really want to get to a place where I don't have ton take any antibiotics during a pregnancy, but I don't want to wait too long either.

I go to my LLMD soon. I've been taking cholestyrimine as a binder. Should I switch to a different binder? Any input/advice would be appreciated. I'm scared to go off antibiotics because I don't want to relapse. But I also don't want to take antibiotics if my remaining symptoms are due to damage or toxins.

If you're able to run 5 miles every other day, do hot yoga, and compete in a marathon, I would say you are well. (others will disagree, and I could be wrong!)

HOWEVER, I would take high dose flagyl or tinidazole to make sure you do not herx. I hope your dr has a plan for that. Many LLMDs do this at the end of treatment.

I personally would not risk a pregnancy with NO antibiotics. Too risky for the child, "well" or not.

A recent conference of the LLMDs spoke to this question. You need to find the info so you are prepared when you do decide to get pregnant.

And good luck in all!!

I'm not well-versed in binders, so can't advise there.

I'm with Tutu on this.

I've never heard of a LLMD not recommending taking antibiotics during pregnancy.

Maybe this info will help? I hope so.

So am I still experiencing an active Lyme infection due to muscle twitching and other symptoms? Or is it the toxins?

Tutu- I agree I wouldn't be so active if I was still really sick.

I'm trying to figure out if I should focus on killing the bugs or supporting the healing process and detox.

Thoughts anyone?

I don't think anyone can answer that with 100% accuracy. Not even close, really.

Your doctor may be able to help you make decisions based on the fact no one really knows.

Until there is a test that can say what is what, rather than being stuck with bits of puzzle pieces to put together, we are all left with no solid answers.

Wishing you luck in finding the best route for you to take.

For a while I told myself I was better because I was on the bike. Looking back, I rode a 12-hour mountain bike race when I was sooooo sick. And stubborn.

You might be well now, I don't know. Just be careful not to just tell yourself what you want to hear.

Runner17...to me twitching = bart and / or lyme. You sound a lot like me. Functional, good most days, but with a few nagging symptoms. I still treat.

If you are ocnsidering having a Baby why take the risk? Taking Zith / Omnicef during pregnancy is Dr J's preferred protocol.

--------------------
Bite date ?
2/10 symptoms began
5/10 dx'd, after 3 months numerous test and doctors

IgM Igenex +/CDC +
+ 23/25, 30, 31, 34, 41, 83/93

Currently on:

Currently at around 95% +/- most days.

I just don't want to be an antibiotics if I don't need to be. Before Lyme I never ever took anything, not even Tylenol I hate being on medication. When I was pregnant with my son I was so careful about everything I put in my body. I guess I was hoping I could get to a place where I didn't need to be on anything during pregnancy.

What if I really go into remission? Do I have to take antibiotics during pregnancy?

bcb.. Have you taken any antibiotic breaks during your illness?
