i just went for my yearly eye exam. haven't had new glasses in about 4 years. the doctor said i have very small cataracts, just beginning. it should be several years or could be more before i have to have anything done. it's hard to say at this point.

my sister has already had cataract surgery. she was legally blind and it did help a great deal.

since i am positive she has lyme, i'm wondering if anyone else on here has gotten cataract surgery.

I was diagnosed with lyme at the beginning of this year. I went for a vision test and was told I had the beginnings of cataracts. I always wear sunglasses so can't blame UV light.
When I had my eyes tested 2 years prior, they were fine. I'm not sure what causes this, but I suspect bartonella.
My LLMD said it was rare.

Some people have cataracts removed when they're in their 40's.

--Oh.. and being in/from Texas doesn't help. The sun is extremely bright there. I can tell a huge difference between where I am and when I'm in Texas. The sun is blinding.

But what is the effect of having cataract surgery when you have lyme disease? Any surgery can stir up spirochetes and inflammation.

i think my husband has lyme. he had cataract surgery which i think later caused his detached retina. might have but the timing was a week after the surgery.

now he has lost his depth perception in that one eye and is having real problems.

i pray that mine will not develop like that. his came on rapidly. he was fine adn then two years later, severe cataract in one eye.
