-Take it with solid food

-Chew ginger gum or drink ginger tea

-If those don't work see if you can get a script for Phenergan (can cause drowsiness) or Zofran (doesn't cause drowsiness, but can constipate).

I agree with ralphi, be sure to take it with food.

If that doesn't help, some you could try an otc anti-nausea med called meclizine (brand name is Bonine). As always, it is best to ask your doctor before starting any new meds. He or she may go ahead and recommend an RX med.

You could also try some DGL to help coat and sooth the stomach. Zith really irritated my stomach and this was one thing that helped greatly.

Here is the brand that I used and liked:

I also echo ralphi. I drank ginger tea every morning for the first three months of treatment, and it basically took the edge off. Cut up about an inch of peeled ginger root, and simmer it for about 10 minutes. Drink the strained tea.

I also did ginger candies when I was right on the edge. I hated to do that, because they had some sugar, but I had to work, and debilitating nausea wasn't an option.

These did not get rid of the nausea, but they made it bearable.

Does nausea ease up after awhile -especially for those who had nausea increase with starting meds?

The first month of Lyme treatment, my husband had nausea. Month 2 treated for Babesia, no nausea. 3rd month - no change from 2nd month in meds, nausea returns.

This is the 4th month , changed meds to treat Lyme - nausea increased again.

We have ginger tea, dried candied ginger root, and ginger root capsules all on hand for him to use.

I have nausea on and off, depending on the meds and or the med combo.

I made some ginger snaps or I take zofran. Zofran does make me sleepy though.

It is very important, if the label tells you to, to take the med with food. It will make a big difference.

GINGER CAPSULES should help regardless of

if the nausea is from the medicine on your stomach, a herxheimer and liver stress - or the inner ear / balance system that is often affected with zithromax.

If you have any ear issues with that, details in this thread:

I've always had stomach issues and am now taking Metagenics' Glutagenics. It's label says Powerful Gastrointestinal Support. It contains l-glutamine, deglycyrrhizinized licorice root, and aloe vera. I add buffered vitamin c and liquid chlorophyll to it. It seems to really help. I started lyme treatment 5 months ago and have had problems with the antibiotic and my stomach.
