Well, day four of having a fever of about 100.2 (I have typically been in the mid 97's (thanks Lyme.))
ALso have general malaise, fatigue, flu-like illness.
This all started a week after STarting Rifabutin (Mycobutin) for Bartonella with Zith and Doxy.
I've never had a herx like this before...and am a bit concerned something is wrong. I typically don't get fevers. Could this be an allergy to the drug?
Doubtful, but I am concerned.
Well...let me know if others have experienced low grade, persistent fevers while treating Bart and Lyme.

What are the possible side effects of rifabutin (Mycobutin)? Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction:
hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
severe skin rash or itching; pale skin, weakness, easy bruising or bleeding; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or eye pain or redness, vision loss. Less serious side effects may include:
A Herxheimer reaction feels like a worsening of illness symptoms and can include:
◦fever ◦sweating and chills ◦rapid heart rate or palpitations ◦shortness of breath ◦muscle and joint aches and pains ◦headache ◦brain fog ◦insomnia ◦swollen glands ◦ringing in the ears ◦sinusitis ◦itching ◦digestive issues ◦unstable emotions ◦general feeling of sluggishness

I have had a fever like that for 4 years straight. I am still kucking. Wouldnt worry too much unless it gets like over 102.
But yes for me a low grade fever is a normal part of a herx. Just

Yes, I've had this symptom in the past. It can definitely be part of a herx. Certain meds can bring it out, at least for me.

Son's herxes included fever. Mine do not. Strange how we are all different.
Best wishes!

Yes, low grade fever = herx in this household. We consider it a good sign, meaning that something is finally working!

Thanks all. Day 5 of fever. This sucks.
LLMD had me get bloodwork done today to monitor LFT's. Let's see what she says.
I also have the "altered" taste that can sometimes happen with Rifabutin. Weird.
Maybe I should change the way I'm taking it from full dose 1x / day to 1/2 dose 2x / day.

OK..LLMD called with bloodwork. WBC is 1.6.
Must stop all meds.
Funny..this same thing happened 1 year ago when I tried Rifabutin with Bactrim. But we thought it was the Bactrim that did this.
