I have been handling the clindy/quinine and biaxin/plaq nicely.

With the exception of flared tinnitus.

Discouraging...if it weren't for the tinnitus I could truck right along with this abx combo.

I am to stop Biaxin and try to determine baseline by only taking Plaquenil.

I am aware that Biaxin, Zithro and Quinine abx families can contribute to ear ringing.

What can I do with excessive ear ringing...any advice?

I've noticed mine is worse when my head is in certain positions and when I've been in front of the computer too long. Try and minimize computer time and work on noticing if certain conditions seem to make it worse than others.

I know it stinks because it's constant, but maybe it varies in intensity for you like it does me and you can find your triggers. This was a symptom I had before antibiotics and while I know they made it worse, I suspect I won't be able to get rid of it completely.

Another thing to consider is whether your ears are blocked... someone suggested to me to visit an ENT specialist because I had so many ear infections last year and my ears still feel fluid-filled, perhaps making it worse...

It took 20 years to find out I'm not crazy.
New bite in 2010 pushed my body over the edge. Positive for lyme, babs, bart, and myco.
I am not a doctor and happily offer only my own opinions.

If you could find someone - a chiropractor, physical therapist, etc - with a PEMF machine, you could try an experiment with it -

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic machine - it puts out pulses through a coil that we hold next to our body. This boosts our electromagnetic energy, which is low when we're ill.

When I did it, my tinnitus would stop for 6 hours. A Lyme doctor said it was probably helping to quiet down the nerves.

Drink LOTs of water (really helps me). I have minimal tinnitus when I drink a lot of water (I drink 8-9 cups a day). (2 cups after meds).

Kramberry,

Some kinds of "popping" techniques can damage tender ear tissue.

I did this once in my ENT's office and he was very firm about this.

Be sure to do this very gently, never by holding the nose and blowing hard (maybe VERY gently) as, besides tearing tissue, "popping pressure" can also send all kinds of germs and gunk out into the whole vestibular system and create super infections.

A safer way to "clear ears" is just with long, big yawns, swallowing, certain yoga exercises.

Using a NETI POT is also good for the ears. Saline nasal solution, too.

Also, to minimize phlegm, the phlegm-producing foods are best avoided: gluten; dairy; corn; soy.

Most inner ear doctors suggest this, too.

Allicin, or freeze-dried organic garlic capsules, can help cut through the phlegm.

Massaging lymph tissue in the throat / neck area can also help but, sometimes, hands on work inside the back of the mouth to help clear the Eustachian tubes can help from someone trained in this technique (usually a D.O. or D.C. who uses the UPLEDGER Techniques).

Kramberry, I do get that pressure fullness sometimes (I get it whenever I'm really tired or have yeast). Rest, probiotics & water help me.

I've heard that Ester C helps with tinnitus. You should give it a try.

The fullness is more irritating than the tinitus!
