My doc has decided to retry me on Mepron + Zithromax, standard dose of Mepron, 500mg Zithro.

Question I have is, how should I space the dosing?

Mepron should be taken with fats, so is it okay if I take it after lunch, then after dinner? Although then that is like 5-6 hrs apart. I'm not sure if that spacing is exactly ideal.

And for zithro, is it best to split the 250mg doses, or take both at once?

I also take CoQ10, which I realize is sort of a no-no for Mepron, but I sort of have to take it for a heart issue. Perhaps I should dose the CoQ10 once daily, late at night, or something, away from the Mepron?

Also somewhat unrelated to my original question, but my cardio gave me a script to check my eosinophils ... primarily for signs of Loeffler's endocarditis or parasites. Would it be best to check eosinophils before or after starting Mepron? I was thinking perhaps at the 3-4 week stage, as it can also be used sort of a rough gauge to see if Mepron is perhaps killing Babesia.

I believe CoQ10 is a total no-no when taking Mepron.

And, from p. 28 of Burrascano:

"3. CO-Q10- required, but do not use while taking the prescription drug atovaquone (Mepron, Malarone)."

Oh, I know about CoQ10 and Mepron. But I don't have much choice.

I also have cardiomyopathy, and have been taking CoQ10 for about 8 years now for it. Although it's possible if I stop, my heart would remain fine, it's also possible if I stop, it could weaken my heart. Should I take that chance, on the off-chance that CoQ10 interferes with Mepron?

I also know some docs dismiss the CoQ10-Mepron connection entirely. While others say it may theoretically interfere, but that just means you may need to take Mepron longer.

When I asked my own doc about it, he just shrugged and gave me a face like 'Don't worry about it'.

I think it is best to take Mepron as close to twelve hours apart as you can. Ask your doctor if you should take the Zithro in one dose or two.

I take Mepron early with breakfast and about eleven hours later with either dinner or something fatty after dinner.
