Please help if you can. For the past 3 weeks I have experienced horrible nausea and now dizziness almost like vertigo. I have Zofran to take for the nausea and most of the time, it doesn't work. Have also tried, ginger, Digeze, etc. You name it, I've tried it. I have been sleeping a lot and maybe it's because I am a bit down about all this. Was taken off anti depressant because of being too toxic.
Go back to see my Lyme doc tomorrow. Any suggestions or words of encouragement would help tremendously. Also, has anyone tried medical marijuana? I have read that it is a good antidote for nausea. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

Many here can't read large blocks of type, so this will help more read - and reply.

What antibiotics are you on? Minocycline, Zithromax and Biaxin seem to cause the most dizziness.

You say you've tried ginger to no avail. Was that ginger CAPSULES? They are much more effective than the tea.

LIVER SUPPORT? As most Rx can be hard on the liver - when the body gets overloaded with toxins, the inner ear system really gets hits and all kinds of vestibular (inner/middle ear) symptoms can pop up.

MAGNESIUM? Are you taking a good quality magnesium (glycinate, citrate)? and enough of it? 1,000 mg a day in divided doses (always divide the doses throughout the day).

Liver support helps to keep the toxic level down in the body, and in the ears.

Be sure to tell your LLMD tomorrow about this and note if there are other ear symptoms, too.

He will be able to determine if this is an Rx reaction, a herxheimer reaction, lyme (or other infection - as lyme itself often hits the ears)

or if he/she should refer you to an ear specialist - or if the dizziness might be from some other reason.

Medical marijuana? Not sure of the laws in your state but that may be an option.

Best if not smoked, of course as hot smoke of any kind can damage lungs and other tender tissue in the mouth and throat - but there are other delivery methods. "Funny Butter" as it is often called, with it in ghee (clarified butter), is probably the safest delivery system.

Acupuncture and acupressure also may be of help but I hope you can get the medications balanced - and get good liver support on board so that this is relieved.

When you rest, lying with your torso elevated at a 30 degree angle (head higher than legs), that is the best position for the inner ear to have best circulation.

Good luck.

Sounds a lot like babesia to me. For hubby phenergan works better than zofran for nausea from babs.

But as Keebler pointed out nausea can be a sign of a toxic liver. Which babesia can cause.

My husband gets horrible nausea (he cant even be in the same room with food) that has only been alleviated by prescription Marinol (the generic is called Dronabinol).

It is a kind of synthetic THC, so it has some of the same benefits as medicinal marijuana.

However, it does not seem to be as effective, but again it is the best alternative if medicinal marijuana is not an option.
