Hi all Wonder if anyone can help me interpret the igenex testing. My daughter tested Negative for the Elyse testing however she tested postive for igm on igenex and negative for igg. Does this mean she has lyme?
Infectious disease doctor in toronto doubts she has lyme as he stated ' the elyse testing was far more sensitive then Igenex and that both igm and igg would have to be positive to be lyme.
She had the bulls eye rash but no symptoms. Non theless we placed her on doxy (200 mgs) and she was fine. 5 days later increased her doxy to 200 mgs am and 200 mgs pm. At that point she started having chills and joint ache. Her doctor in toronto said she was suffering from doxy intoxicity. Her LLMD said she was herxing. who do you believe??????

The Elisa test is only 50% accurate. Most doctors use it as a screening test so most people don't even get a Western Blot without a positive Elisa. You are fortunate that you got both tests done.
A positive igm means there was exposure. Lyme is a clinical diagnosis. Exposure + symptoms = Lyme Disease.
A bullseye rash is diagnostic even without testing.
She was likely herxing. It's a common reaction when you have Lyme.
Have you seen Under Our Skin? You should watch it, it's on Netflix and Hulu (I think). It will explain why the infectious disease doctors are not willing to diagnosed Lyme Disease.
I'm glad your daughter is seeing an LLMD.

You believe the lyme doctor. Lyme docs know a million times more about lyme disease than regular docs.
Regular docs think they know everything about lyme, but everything they know about it is WRONG.
