I've been on zith only for a week and a half since the doxy stopped working after 5 weeks. I am doing poorly. I'm missing work today and wondering if I should get a CBC. I know a lot of these are Bart symptoms and I had the bulls eye rash when this all started but I'm worried this could be cancer or something and I'm treating for tick borne illness. Anyone gone through the same fears? Any advice would be appreciated! Nausea Mucus running down the back of my throat Headache and pressure on right side Dizzyness Fatigue Body aches Burning face and legs Leg and arm swelling and pain when rubbed Slightly swollen lymph nodes in neck, arms and groin Fatigue

I had same fears not cancer, but Lyme affects every organ. Had the same symptoms at one point too. All else was checked, lyme gave me many conditions, mental and physical, but cancer wasn't one of them. Do what's going to get you to a comfortable place. You'll be ok.

you sound so much like me, My heaart goes out to you. Anxiety, stress and worry are our enemy. Try with all you have to get everything else out of your head. Treat the infection, live for the day and know that you are not alone, PM me if you'd like, I am queen of worry, but have a knack for helping others through it. (if only I could convince myself..LOL)

This fear of having cancer is actually another lyme symptom. This is what it is like to have lyme anxiety. It is one of the most terrible symptoms of the disease, in my opinion.
You will likely have to get a doctor to give you something for anxiety. That may be the only way you can have a normal mind right now, early in your treatment.
Before I knew that what I had was lyme, I was put on xanax, doctor thinking it was menopause, and my mind was in total fear mode. It was terrible and made me like a different person.
So, just know that many of us have been there. Get something to take care of this symptom because life isn't worth living as long as you are in such fear.
With good treatment, this will hopefully diminish and go away. But, nobody can say when that will happen, so get yourself some relief.

I still struggle with the fear of being terminally ill or worse. But Lyme and co-infections are dreadful and will take over your mind and body.
My best advice: Be sure to test for all infections and treat if clinical symptoms are present. The first 9 months were the worst in treating for me. Then I began to notice changes and can now function much better. Herxing brought on by the medications just makes it all worse. I couldn't start out on high doses because I herxed so bad.
Hang in there!

- Pushingthru,
Are you taking some good support supplements? If not, there are are few key ones that should help you manage this bumpy road.
Are you also getting enough really good, whole food?
Enough water; enough rest; enough non-aerobic movement? Music therapy; art appreciation or whatever else can nurture your spirit also really helps. -

I agree with the Xanax. In the beginning that is what the hospitals prescribed for extreme head and neck pressures for me.
I did not want to take it, since I always hated drugs and meds, but Xanax relieved tension of my neck and head muscles and I felt so much better. It allowed me to sleep peacefully after many nights of not being able to.
I was able to get off Xanax very quickly after the right ABX hit my symptoms. Be warned that Xanax can be addictive and one can develop a dependency on them, with adverse reactions when removed. Some have to titrate themselves off of it. This did not happen to me, but it is good to know.
Have you tried Ceftin or Amoxicillin with probenecid for Lyme overall? Levaquin is supposed to be good for Bart and BLO's.

I used Ceftin almost a year ago and it doesn't work for me any longer. Allergic to Amoxicillin. I can definitely see where the Xanax would be helpful. I'm doing pretty well in the last 2 days so I'm just hanging in there with the zith and hoping I won't have to take Flagyl since it has the minor cancer causing risk and that concerns me. Thanks for your help everyone!

This sounds a lot like me. I had bart + lyme, and was on doxy for months. I'd keep upping the dose, and it worked - for a while. Then the brain fog and other neuro symptoms would come back.
If you're suffering all those symptoms while on doxy/zith, it's entirely possible you've got bart as well. Rifampin and the ciprofloxacin family are the usual medications for bart. Watch the bart herxes, they can be brutal.
