I am coming to the conclusion that I am not detoxing properly and this is making me feel worse as ABX treatment(coming up for 1 year mark) continues. We have mold problem in the house(I'm taking Welchol and have left the home pending remediation) and I probably have high levels of heavy metals.
I seem to remember reading that KPU can degrade one's ability to naturally detoxify so I'm wondering if this has developed and if there would be any risk in trying this protocol alone.
Has anyone tried it and had success? Looks like there's no need to buy any Dr. K products, since the components are all easily available elsewhere.
Toxic Metals and Microbial organisms/infections go hand in hand and it is difficult to clear one without addressing the other. There is no short-cut to getting any of them under control.
Please study it and hope this helps.
Take care.

Thanks, Gigi. Up for any input on KPU protocol--anyone had success following it on their own? Sue

My son and I did the KPU protocol without buying the Core... we basically used page 18 of the PDF GiGi just posted. This dosage is set up for a 150 pound adult and my son was about 75 pounds at the time. So I just cut his dosages in half.
You have to slowly work up to that zinc dosage! As a matter of fact, slowly ramping up on all the dosages of supplements is a good idea.
A good book to get is "Amalgam Illness" The parallels in treatment are very similar and I added a lot to our protocol from the AI book.
Also, there are some yahoo groups that are good support while doing oral chelation (which is what the KPU protocol is doing)
Autism-Mercury adult-metal-chelation
I watched the video in GiGi's post SEVERAL times. I know, it's 2 hours long. But there is SO MUCH information in it! Plus, I was so brain fogged at the time, I needed to watch it several times just to make sure I got all the good stuff!
We had some improvement, and because of this protocol we cleared enough heavy metals to discover we had a HUGE mold problem!
We are not done with KPU either. The mold and the metals are so intertwined, we have to get rid of them together.

I would also like to know if there are any KPU protocol success stories out there.

KPU does not go away overnight. It probably will remain people for quite some time - a year - 2 years - who knows. So the success is not like an open book, since the detoxing of metals takes a long time.
With time, KPU will of course become less of a problem. And only after you start detoxing the metals, will you see more success in getting a handle on the bacterial and viral infections. Hopefully, you have treated parasites, because they hold on to the toxic metals (in their coat).
Detoxing metals can take a few years. But as a starter lowering the burden is so important, and you will start feeling better. I am still detoxing metals. But I have had a few extra years of accumulation.
Good luck - you can do it!

I took the KPU supps for a couple years. They helped tons and I don't think I'd have reached full remission without it.
I took Depyrrol (The Core wasn't out yet, and when it came out I didn't change over because Depyrrol was working fine).
I went through a bad time with detox in the beginning. Then I worked through a lot of viruses. But when all that passed, I felt really good.
It's important to learn about "retracing", "healing reactions" and "healing crisis" when correcting nutritional deficiencies. This is not specific to Lyme and is not the same thing as herxing. If you don't, you will get discouraged when you are really progressing.
