If so please PM me. Doctors can't seem to tell me, don't know what to do - Need a description of what it was like for you if new Lyme infection attacked knee. How to tell the difference between unexplained injury and Lyme knee.
Lyme and co's since 2005. Treating over the last year.

Not sure what you mean? Yes, Lyme hit my knee with all kinds of swelling and arthritis.

Could you bear weight on that leg? Did it come on very suddenly or gradually?
Lyme did give me arthritis everywhere and weak cartiliage & joints. By Lyme knee (just a doctor's phrase I'm using) I mean one tick infecting and settling into the joint to the point that suddenly the pain keeps you awake all nite, and often cannot bear weight on it. Kind of mimics a torn ligament or something. I'm looking for anyone with that experience because they can't test my knee for Lyme since I've been on all the antibiotics for over a year for late state Lyme & co's. Hoping someone out there had a diagnosed lyme knee that was treated early and got better.

I believe my tick/mosquito/whatever (never saw a bug but did have a really bad hive like rash) was on the back of my knees. I didn't get sick for a decade after that. When I did get sick it was sudden, excruciating, freak-me-out, keep me up at night because it hurt so bad, kind of pain in my knee. It only lasted a couple of days. Every few weeks the pain would reappear, but in another joint. At the time, my kids had just had 5ths disease (parvo virus) and thats what I attributed that pain to. I slowly got worse and worse and found out I had Lyme. I believe the parvo was the straw that broke the camel's back and brought out the dormant Lyme. No I could not put weight on it and it came on very suddenly..
I don't know if this helps or not.

I had a bad knee, severely swollen, in the early month/years of Lyme with all known co-infections. It was treated successfully with Bee Venom injections. Didn't like them, but it worked (Dr.K.'s protocol).

P.S. Bee venom cream also works -- for some people. Metals need to be detoxed after parasites are treated. Bugs go where the metals are -- into the joints. All has to be addressed.

My knee did not remain painful like that. It switched gears and now I'm dealing with body wide RA.

I've had a swollen knee and also very painful when I put pressure on it, for three days know (left side only).
I had this about two years ago also, I have ice on it right now...I'm sure it's the lyme!!!

This might be different for all of us. I always had some arthritic knee pain from excess sport activity. But my first real Lyme knee pain occurred back i 2008 as a piercing/stabbing pain that woke me in the middle of the night hurt to to a point I had tears in my eyes. I could not get back to sleep but went to work the next day sore but OK.
The next night the piercing pain returned and I took a vicodin. This repeated for a few night and went to see my PCP for another script of pain killers. Instead of vicodin he gave me Gabapentin thinking it was more nerve related.
The Gabapetin took the edge off and helped with sleep, but the pain migrated from hip to toes and changed into a tingling/numbness that is still in with me to a lesser extent today.
Long story short... ended up going to a neuro (all tests negative)then on to a rhuemy as the pain and and stiffness spread to every other joint in my body (x-rays showed artritic inflamation, but no swelling, and RA labs were negative), then I got myself to a good LLMD.
I was bit by a tick in June 2005, had the EM rash, and 30 days doxy with no significant symptoms till about three years later. Maybe the pain and stiffness had just creeped up on me all along without really complaining.. writing it off as old age setting in.
After almost two years on ABX, with the past 10 months more agressive treating Babs then Bart, my joints are feeling better with more range of motion, and the remainig pain is more nerve related, and a little premature old age from sports injuries.
During Babs treatment with Mepron/Zith last spring I some of the worse deep muscle/bone pain symptoms and frozen shoulders that I never previously had. Hopefully that has all past.
Our joint pain is difficult to say what are the real causes with symtoms from Lyme and Co's overlapping so much. Combine that with old injuries and hi-milage we just need to keep moving or rust. Give your treatment some more time, If I recall, you just changed Dr's a year ago to start more agressive treatment.

jlp38, yes that helps alot. Just can't imagine an injury coming on so suddenly, so your experiece helps me to confirm it's not an injury, likely Lyme.
Gmb, yes, I've been on Zith and Mepron also recently. But Doc is giving me Doxy for the knee and wants me to stop the Zithro. Just good to know if this thing is a new Lyme infection - cuz then I will just take vicadin or Oxycoden and just keep walking my dog. Rather than be afraid some unknown injury will get worse-WHEN ALL the time it's likely Lyme so walking thru the pain is unlikely to make it worse.
This since I'm counting on this knee, as the other one is useless from newly failed TKR.

I was sitting out at the edge of the sandbox while my kids played. It was early evening. We came in around 7ish and my knee was sore. I remember telling hubby "i don't know how I sprained my knee sitting on the edge of the sandbox". Then I awoke in the middle of the night with the swollen, excruciating pain.

Short answer/////YES...Someday's knee or knee's. Other days other places. meds seem to change some things , sometimes ..but I call it migratory arthritis pain .. Like the bugs are hanging out here for a while then something different takes over. WELL ,that wasn't short. Nonna

Lymetoo, Yes, I was told to stop antibiotics for at least 3 weeks in order to get a knee tap for my failed knee replacement months ago.
I tried but was bedridden sick after 9 days so never went off them. So this time I'm going to assume it's Lyme since I can't stop antibiotix
