I stopped antibiotics about 2 months ago. I had been symptom free for about 2 months. I have since been working full time, actually more than full time, and feeling good. Last night I felt that old familiar pain. it was pretty bad...behind the knees like my very first symptom. It's better today but still there, maybe a 3.
How do you know if you are relapsing or your darn legs just hurt? How long do you wait before you do something to re-treat? I don't know what to do. I contacted my doc, haven't heard anything yet. Any advice?

How's your diet been? Still staying carb/sugar free? Have you continued to take antifungals and acidophillus? Did you perhaps indulge in holiday treats?

Yeast will be a battle for a long long time to come, and you need to keep at it, despite being off abx.

I bring this up because yeast can cause inflammation and joint pain (knee and elbow are common)- so don't panic yet until you fully assess your current situation. It's easy to fall into the trap of believing every little thing is Lyme.

We are often left with tons of other messes from either Lyme or the treatment itself, and these issues need to be addressed as well (ie mineral deficiencies, adrenal/thyroid disfunction, parasites, and yeast.

If it were me, I'd look to eliminate the obvious before blowing the relapse horn. Congrats on your progress!!!

You might want to get on some good Olive Leaf Extract as that can help cover a lot of bases. This is the best one, IMO.

But, I think you need to contact your previous LLMD and get into for an evaluation as soon as possible, just to be proactive.

As Julie notes, this may not be lyme, still your LLMD should be able to sort it out.

Be sure you are getting all the rest, water, nutrition and gentle but consistent circulation with some kinds of movement. Be sure your home gets fresh air exchange a couple times a day.

Be sure NOT to drink any alcohol over the New Eve's celebration. If lyme has reared again, even a little alcohol can cause a hard tumble.

Noting the city you are in, I know that there is a good LLMD right there. You may be aware but, if not, do you need that contact information?

If you have it, you might want to make an appointment so you have a good discerning mind to help you figure this out.

If that is the doctor you are waiting to hear back from, likely after the holiday they will call you. If not, as messages do sometimes wind up in outer space, be sure to call again until you get a real live person.

Good luck.

thank you both. yes dr. L is my doc. I figured her office was closed til next week.
thanks for the advice. i had not considered yeast at all. hmm. well, i guess it's possible, since I did go off the diet the last couple weeks, but I had no yeast symptoms throughout my treatment. I was on diflucan and nystatin but stopped them both with the abx.
i will remain calm and try some olive leaf extract with my painkillers!

There is alot of residual toxins after lyme treatment too. You could increase detoxing to see if you feel better.

I'd probably take an herb known to hit Lyme. If it is the lyme coming out, it might be good to try to hit it with herbs before waiting for a possible full-blown relapse then going through abx again.

Detoxing is also a good idea, but for sure, I would be taking herbs.
