Anyone know how long after the last dose of Flagyl you are OK to drink alcohol?

Info on the Internet is all over the place with one site even saying it has been proven that there is no reaction between the 2. Not what I have always heard!

I took the last dose Thurs eve, about 48 hours ago. Don't know whether to risk it or not. Anyone have any "personal experience", bad or good, with this?

----

Never. Alcohol is off limits for all lyme patients if they ever want to get better. Sorry. I'm surprised your LLMD did not explain that.

As it's New Year's Eve, be very careful think ahead for non-alcoholic beverages that will dazzle you without clobbering liver and brain cells

and without offering a buffet to the the spirochetes that may just be coming out from hiding in the cysts that flagyl has hopefully help break open.

You need to be much more careful now as spirochetes may be more active.

I avoided alcohol at all costs for the years I was ill with Lyme. Had a pretty severe reaction to it from the Lyme itself and made me feel toxic.

However, since I have been in remission for years now, still under the care of an LLMD taking periodic maintenance treatments, I have been fine.

I have used alcohol occasionally with zero ill effects and know exactly what I can tolerate. So, my question is the same ... how long is the Flagyl in your system, anyone know?

My doctor said at least 3 days after treatment with Flagyl ends. That was before lyme for a separate illness unrelated to lyme.

Connie,

Intended no offense. I had no way of knowing that you are no longer considered a lyme patient or that the flagyl was not about lyme. Hope you enjoy your celebrations.

My pharmacist said 3 days after the last dose. I was concerned with tinctures that contained alcohol. But also over the holidays and birthdays, I knew I may want to "hold"a glass if wine all night and may take a sip out of habit.

I have had a beer roughly 24 hours after my last Flagyl dose and was fine.

I also tested the flagyl/alcohol reaction by drinking a beer 2 hours after my flagyl dose, the reaction was intense and was not enjoyable!

Good luck to you!

Good to know for future reference.

I am on a maintenance protocol 2 weeks on and 3 weeks off and for 2 days in a row of the 2 week treatment cycle I take Flagyl. Funny that it fell right before the new year ... guess I should have started it a couple of days early to avoid New Years eve!

Will try to think ahead next cycle!

Thank you for the comments!
