Ok I just got a call that was really strange. It was my insurance company (the blue company) calling to ask questions because I had an extra "benefit" to my insurance, some type of assistance group. The woman said she was a nurse and my name was forwarded because of a recent appointment? Anyone heard about this?
She asked me about my current docs, what they were treating, and what meds I take. She had a list already but she was just confirming it.
I am concerned abt my Lyme doc, and I'm thinking this was the only recent appt I have had. He prescribes LDN and doxy for me although I am off the doxy, and one year's worth of naltrexone is enough for over a year of LDN for me, so the scripts are not recent. I did not mention my Lyme or the LDN.
Since this same doc also prescribes my thyroid meds, the woman asked if I had an actual endocrinologist for my thyroid issues, and was actually encouraging me to find someone specialized to manage it. Hmmm.
Am I being paranoid here or do you think they are checking on him? I feel like big brother just called me. The weird thing is my husband has had more appts than I have and has more health issues right now than I do, and he isn't getting this "special service". And he doesn't see my Lyme guy.
What do you think?

igot a letter from bc/bs telling me i had "numerous" visits to many doctors and they were referring me to a special group that would be evaluating me. they also wanted to send a "home nurse" to do an evaluation, etc., and any future expenses would be "reconsidered".
i threw it away. and yes i felt like they were telling me i was a high risk. it was scary. it thought i was going to loose my insurance.

Hubby was given a prescription for actos once probably 5 years ago or maybe even longer -- some LLMD's prescribe that along with cholestyramine.
Actos is a diabetic drug so every now and again he gets calls or letters reminding him that Anthem BCBS can help him manage his diabetes. We have asked to be taken off their list several times but it doesn't do any good.
I wouldn't worry about the call -- just be polite and say you don't need any special attention or help at this time. The thyroid meds are probably what triggered the call.

I believe they called us about a year ago trying to talk to my husband because he was given a tentative diabetes diagnosis.
My husband said he wouldn't talk to them and didn't want their help and I relayed the message to them.
That was the end of it.
I can see if they want to help patients with certain diagnoses that can lead to expensive surgeries or the like (dialysis, kidney transplant, etc.) so that they never have to pay for these expensive things.
If you were given one of their target diagnoses (I only know that diabetes is one, based on our experience), then that is why they called.

My husband received calls like that when he was diagnosed with Retroperitoneal Fibrosis. He just kept ignoring them and they stopped calling. His claims were never affected.
