My LLMD is having me take flagyl two times a day for two days in a row every week.

I thought this was a pretty standard dose for flagyl.

Although I recently read a post here saying that flagyl is not supposed to be pulsed like that and should be taken for two WEEKS in a row

is this true?!? what is your flagyl regimen?

Thanks!

I take flagyl 2 days a week too. I am supposed to take it 4x a day, but have not worked up to that dose yet.

4 times a day is the dose that people are supposed to work up to?

does everyone at one time end up taking flagyl 4 times a day?

I believe if it is prescribed for c. diff./clostridia, then it is to be used for 2-3 weeks in a row.

Before we found Lyme, my dd was prescribed 1 week daily for 'parasite unknown' that came up on a test.

positive Bartonella henselae Igenex, 2011.
low positive Fry biofilm test, 2012.
Update 7/16- After extensive treatments,
doing okay!

I was taking it once a month. Until I asked my LLMD to up the dose to 2 days every week. So now I will be taking it two days a week.

Her reasoning for once a month was that if I could discover my lyme cycle and take it during my lyme cycle I should be good. However, i felt immediate results and requested more! Go figure!

One more thing...I heard it should be taken for 2 weeks straight and then pulsed thereafter. Im not sure what is correct though or if it matters.

hmmm.. lots of different answers here ...weird

what is the deciding factor in someone taking it everyday? I'd like to work up to doing that. that way youre killing more cysts. Im assuming ill have a pretty powerful herx!

I don't think even the docs know at this point. Most have only been prescribing flagyl for the last 3 years or so. Not sure when cysts became common knowledge, but cyst treatment has definitely been around for less than 10 years.

I take Flagyl twice a day every day. Finally got up to the full prescribed dose last week (took me about 4.5 months to get there). This is the most effective protocol I've tried yet (Flagyl + Andrographis).

My protocol is flagyl and amanadine for one week twice a day straight, then ceftin, biaxcin, and amanadine for three weeks straight, i've been doing that for almost 3 months straight now, I can't tell you how its' working because I feel I am just getting sicker every day, but when I'm on the Flagyl I get severe neuro symptoms, which i hear that's supposed to be good because it's penetrating the brain, except when I go off the flagyl the neuro symptoms stop but I am no better??

I completed my lyme treatment 7 years ago! Praise God! And, I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life. It is the same life I had before lyme disease.

So, 8 years ago, when I began treating with my final lyme doctor who cured me, he put me on amoxicillin and flagyl. I took the flagyl every single day for 2 months. That's how I got rid of lyme all those years ago.

I took 250 mg of flagyl 3 times per day.

The amoxi was to attack the regular form of lyme and the flagyl was to attack the cyst form of lyme. It worked like a miracle!!

The same doctor will prescribe different treatment for each patient. Why? Based on that patient's history, for one. I got to my final doctor after being on only amoxi for 2 solid years.

My final lyme doctor told me that ALL of my lyme was turned into cyst form, thanks to that treatment. So, that is why he treated me as above.

For those just starting their lyme treatment, perhaps they don't need to take the flagyl the way I took it. Every case is different.
