this is awful, I read that hair loss, brittle hair & scalp sores are from a type of scalp fungus- i think its detoxing bugs, mold, metals. i hope this is a good thing- i am thinking of getting a hair test, I will check with doctors data & genova labs tommorrow- hope I dont need a doctors script [bonk]

Try a dandruff shampoo! I didnt' have dandruff, but had the hair loss and itchy scalp. Fixed it in two days! No more hair loss!

Nizoral works great and you can get it over the counter! It's an anti-fungal, anti-dandruff shampoo that used to only be available by perscription.

I have these symptoms from psoriasis. I used oil of oregano on my scalp and it helps tremendously.

My doctor says psoriasis is from food sensitivities or Lyme and company.

It can possibly be other auto-immune diseases like Lupus which can be triggered by lyme and/or viruses.

I have it, too.

My bathroom floor is a disaster b/c of it.

I was told by my NP years ago that it is from Candida -- his claim is that as the Candida exits, it causes something to happen at the level of the hair root, which causes the hair then to fall out.

But I suspect it can also be caused by either the medications you are on or from treatment itself.

I wish I knew of something to suggest trying, but sadly do not.

I have psoriasis (not lyme - just here as support for a lady with it) - it is strongly genetic in cause, and has been shown to diminish with immunity meds (I won't take them - they leave you open to all kinds of nasty infections), and can get better with a gluten free diet - seems like lyme may be a stressor for it also. Gluten free helps me, as does getting enough sleep.

I have had these come out when i started to use antiparasitics and salt/c. When I picked them, parasites emerged, and I know for sure they were parasites because I felt them retreat at times.

I know this is yucky, but that's the way it is. I also believe there is a fungal component to it.

I got rid of it by putting coconut kefir on my scalp, covering with a paper towel and a baseball cap. Dries them out.

I also like coconut kefir to drink and coconut water as well. Of course this is also systemic in nature and when you get rid of these infections in your gut which is where they hibernate, the other infections are easier to get at.

nru, those of us with Lyme cannot take the immune suppressant drugs for psoriasis or other autoimmune diseases. they are like putting gasoline on a fire when it comes to Lyme. I took them before being properly diagnosed with Lyme, and nearly cost me my life.

I do know there is a genetic component to psoriasis. I have a family history of it. But mine was brought out by Lyme and is exasperated buy food sensitivities. I know nothing about parasites though.

I won't take them either - I think they should only be last resort for anything - psoriasis is a mild disease and immunosuppresants open you up to everything - no matter what your current state is.
