This site has a lot of info on bio film busting. Their top essential oil is Eucalyptus and Listerine started putting it in their mouthwash for bio films.

You will notice vinegar as well as several other things mentioned on this site.

Interesting read. Anyone wants to throw in their 2 cents feel free.

jarjar,

Thanks for that link. I'll have to spend some more time looking over that and am glad to see any discussion about biofilm.

As mouth rinse, diluted essential oil can be good but it's hard to find the right balance.

Just remember to always start with a very diluted rinse - even for mouthwash it's something like one drop to a full cup of water, and, even then, don't swallow most essential oils.

They can be way too strong for the lining of the throat, esophagus and stomach and burn right through.

I've found this to be very nice, and it does not burn my tender mouth tissue as most other mouthwashes & there are no petroleum products, dyes or additives. It is gluten-free. No alcohol to burn.

I keep some in a small dropper bottle and put a couple drops in my mouth when I think about it - and it soothes my gums. This is the most balanced mouth formula I've ever found, after years of searching:

Ingredients listed & their properties discussed.

Thanks Keeb, I agree totally with what you said about essential oils. I just recently got on the xylitol band wagon and found Bio-tene mouth wash with xylitol at my grocery store then went to health store for Tom's xylitol toothpaste plus picked up some gum. My mouth has never tasted so great.
Plus I realize my mouth will be a lesser burden on my immune system with bio films cleared out.

Will look for your mouthwash in the future and check it out.

I've also brushed with Auromeres Ayurvedic Herbal Mouthwash, alternating with "melted" baking soda.

After regular brushing and a good rinse, brushing again with TWO DROPS GSE solution on a wet toothbrush is also helpful to work that up into our gums.

But it can't stay on as it is very acidic and can affect tooth enamel, needs rinsing.

Two makers of the GSE:

A WATERPIK is also very helpful to get up under the gum line where even an electric toothbrush and floss can't always get all tiny particles of debris.
