My lyme doc recommended it for the entire time I was treating lyme.
I read the book. I took notes. It was hundreds of rules. So, I just simplified it to a basically non-carb diet. I ate only meat and non-starchy vegetables. No grains. I drank only water with lemons and kefir.
I did eat her hot breakfast porridge daily (made from quinoa flakes), and sometimes an egg and bacon.
I also ate nuts and seeds as snacks.
So, basically, I just followed the Burrascano anti-yeast diet rather than BED.
Body Ecology is a great diet for gut health and candida problems. I did not have these problems.
Each time I broke my diet, (by eating a bite of brownie or whatever) I got yeast. I was on very high dose amoxi and flagyl at the time. I took diflucan for 3-4 days for each occurrence and it went away.
So, I just stopped breaking the diet and the rest of my lyme treatment (no more flagyl) went smoothly with no more yeast problems.
Another lyme doc I know says that not everything in the BED is proven. But, in general, I believe the diet is well respected for candida problems.

- Olive Leaf Extract was the very best anti-candida support for me (in addition to a wise food plan & probiotics). ------------------
