this past summer, my hamstring area really was bothering me. I thought it was from exercising. so i tried to stretch it out. i think it might have disappeared for a period of time.
right before thanksgiving, it came on full force, so i started seeing a chiro and doing PT.
At my annual physical in early dec, i had blood taken, not for lyme bc of course i was told by my dr, that i didn't have a rash, why would i suspect i had lyme. the only piece of info my dr talked to me about regarding my bloodwork was very low Vit D and the fact i was @ high risk for diabetes. I am tiny and in normal weight range. i was a little surprised by the diabetes risk.
For my "hamstring issue" had an MRI, the jelly between one of my discs, was pushed out slightly.
My dr also said my thyroid was enlarged and via US i have 3 nodules on my thyroid.
Last week i woke up with an odd rash on my chest. Two circles sided by side.
Since I had to take my son to his pediatrician that day, i had him take a look at my rash. he said lymes, go see your dr. I saw my dr, she said ringworm. So I went to see a LLMD.
i took a picture of the rash bc in 24 hours it was gone.
My llmd put me on doxy, 2x's a day 100mg each.said he will take blood in 6 weeks.
Also, i would say in the last few months, randomly, i have had sharp shooting pains in my head. It was always accompanied with stuffy nose, feeling like i had a sinus infection, so i thought it had something to do with that.
Back to the present, as of day 3 on doxy, i have had constant ringing in my ears. it is horrible. I don't want to stop my medicine. But i am so sad, will this constant ringing in my ears ever stop?
all day today i have had a horrible headache.
I got bit by a tick in 2003, but back then i was told it wasn't lyme since i didn't see the rash.
I am hoping i am newly infected, but what do i know? but i am even embarrassed to speculate that.
My main reason for posting is the ringing in my ears. It is horrible. it is dull, but at dinner tonight it kicked up a notch and then subsided. has anyone experienced this? is there anything i could take for it?
my dr is away on vacation. the nurse called and said this is due to herxing and if i can stay with the medicine, stick with it.
i am even so embarrassed writing this, bc now that i put everything down, how could i not think i had lymes.
thanks in advance to reading my post.

it does sound like lyme. its good you got to llmd...that is a good dose. many dont get it.
i would suggest you try to stay on the doxy and read on here.
others will be along to help but there is a lot to learn
there are good posts at the top that consolidate stuff for newbies. dr burrascanos guidelines are important and skim over the success stories to stay positive
it takes many of us 2-3-4 yrs to get a lot better. but it is very individual...i was 10 yrs b4 i got tx...and mostly better in 4 yrs. good luck.

Don't be embarrassed - you are among LOTS of other people who have probably been in a situation just like yours.
When I look back over the years before I was diagnosed, I cannot believe I didn't think of Lyme. It boggles my mind.
It is so great that you are seeing an LLMD and that he started you on doxy for now.
As for the ringing, I have had some of that too, and it is so horrible. I agree that it could be a herx, and that it will pass...but I am curious as to what other people think.
THose circles were probably NOT ringworm. Mainstream doctors are simply clueless about lyme.
Read the information on this forum for the newly diagnosed. It will help you so much as it is full of information. CB

We're all different when it comes to how we respond to treatment, but may I say that the only treatment that ever quieted down the ringing in my ears was sessions with a PEMF machine.
That stands for pulsed electromagnetic frequency machine. It's something that chiropractors and physical therapists can have. We hold a white coil that emits e-m clicks. It increases the e-m energy in the body.
I asked a top LLMD about it and he said it probably quiets down the irritated nerves affecting the ears.
