I just started mepron about 2 weeks ago and have been feeling very irrational and crying uncontrollably a lot. Is this a side effect and will it go away with time? Is it a herx?

I haven't felt this out of my mind in a long time. I get so anxious and then short of breath and I just feel so upset about everything.

Since Babesia and Bartonella can cause a lot of pyschiatric/cognitive issues, it's not too far-flung to believe that when we herx on the drugs that target these diseases (in the case of Babs, the Zith-Mep combo) we tend to see an exaggeration in just such symptoms.

From personal experience, when taking Levaquin for Bart and then Mepron for Babs, my anxieties/irrational thinking and depression/general sadness went through the roof. Over time however, these symptoms (while on the drugs) did seem to improve. It's a really slow-going process, though...

Something additional that I might add is that my other very distinctive Babs and Bart symptoms really flared while on the drugs. Crazy fatigue, air hunger, muscle pain/weakness and tissue swelling (all Babs), as well as intense foot/sole pain, shin pain, subcutaneous nodule/fibrotic tissue inflammation and development of burning scratch-like rashes on my back and shoulders (all Bart).

I hope that you find relief soon!

I have Bart and can't begin to explain psych symptoms. I can't handle rifampin for Bart. I'm on OCD Meds and take something fr anxiety. There's a lot of natural anxiety things out there, I take klonopin a benzo. If something natural would work for me I would take it, but thoughts through the roof all day causing anxiety I need something stronger. Detox, for a herx. Feel better soon.
