I was at the neurologist today having one of the kids checked out. Her D levels are good, but the doctor warned us about D levels that get too high.
Said that it can cause all sorts of problems. Pseudo tumor, headaches, and some sort of pressure that only can be relieved by spinal tap.
Just thought I'd mention it here since most of us supplement D3.

Good info - thanks.
I didn't realize it can jump quick when it does finally come back up.
D levels remained in the mid 20's for well over a year - just in the last month it has risen from 28 to 60.
My Dr told me that it can jump quick so he monitors it monthly to be safe.

- Thanks for sharing this. It reminds us the importance of monitoring D levels.
I'd also want to hear what other specialists might say about it. I would never do a spinal tap unless I had more detail about how else it might be lowered.
The "Marshall Protocol" focuses on those who have high D levels. While this is very involved, I just wonder if there are other ways to lower a high D, maybe balancing it with other nutrients.
Did not get far with a basic search just now and need to stop, but I always want a menu of options. -

Has anyone seen research on high vitamin D causing pseudo-tumor cerebri? How high a level is too high?
My kids have had PTC for over 12 years and we have never been told this.
High vitamin A levels can cause PTC.

There's also a difference with the D levels.
The regular test that doctor's usually run and the Hydroxy....
My D can be low ,but d=hydroxy high and that does affect even more serious things....
Not sure how to explain it. But get both checked.

They add vit. D to milk & other products. I heard that the additives may be overdoing it in some cases... We may not need all the extra synthetic vitamins they add to some foods.
Just though I'd mention it.

- Sparkle,
Good point and another reason to avoid all processed or "enriched" food products. Real food does not need additives. -
