So, like clockwork, I have a symptom flare about every 28 days. Have any of you done something different during this monthly flare-up, e.g. doubling meds, etc. to address further healing? I wonder what is actually happening that makes me feel so symptomatic? Is it a burst of growth or die-off?

That's awesome that you recognize your lyme cycle. My doc likes to hit it with a cyst buster during that time. I think I am finally noticing mine after starting flagyl....can you describe your flare for me so I can get a better idea of what I'm experiencing??

I believe the cycle is when they reproduce and we become more symptomatic.

So my main symptoms are exacerbated for a day or two. Higher fatigue levels. Worse "low blood sugary" feeling. Spike in neuro sxs. Most of the rest of the days of the month, I almost forget that I have lyme. That's good. I just want to nail this cycle.

That sounds a lot like mine except for some sweating and chills added in. And weakness.

Currently I only take flagyl when I cycle (I take it every weekend).

I have heard that docs will hit it harder at that time by increasing meds. Have you asked your llmd?

Next month I will talk to my llmd about this, as shes curious as to when it is
but this is the first month ive actually pinpointed it.

See page 17 of Burrascano for the theories of what is going on during the 28-day flare.

My lyme doc who cured me didn't do anything different during the lyme flares treatment-wise.

But, the flares and then lack of flares guides the treatment and helps determine endpoint.

Now, the babesiosis flares DID cause my doc to prescribe different treatment during the flares. He had me take artemesinin to encompass the flares--meaning that I took it on the day I expected the flare to start and continued it until the flare ended. It worked like a charm--like a miracle actually.

So I'm wondering whether my main healing isn't occurring during this monthly spike.... Hmmmm.
