I have a picc line and am doing IV rocephin daily. Since I have medicare going to the hospital each day, for the infusion is the only way it is paid for.

Does anyone know where to get cheap rocephin and the IV supplies? Then I would be able to do it at home and not spend almost 2 hours each day going to the hospital. I can not drive so that is another problem, trying to find someone to take me every day.

Look up Infuserve America on the web. I think they are around $500 or so a month without the home nurse service for weekly bandage changes.

Another way is to see if your regular prescription insurance will cover injectable rocephin at generic co-pay cost for a months supply. If so you can mix it yourself with saline. Finding a supplier of the saline and heprine flushes, and all the PICC line dressing supplies varies from state to state.

Got the booklet named "Infusion for Lymies" on the web and review.

good luck

Infuserve is $692 for IV Rocephin for 28 day kit, with the eclipse ball $792 for 28 day kit. I just called them yesterday so this should be accurate.

Nursing care is separate from them, you have to set up your own.

I called Infuserve yesterday. That is the price I was quoted too.

I have medicare part D. I doubt they would pay for anything.

Does the doctor write you a script or fax the order for you to where you want it to go? My home health is about to run out.

It took 20 years to find out I'm not crazy.
New bite in 2010 pushed my body over the edge. Positive for lyme, babs, bart, and myco.
I am not a doctor and happily offer only my own opinions.

You will need doctor to call in order. If you will mix own, you will have to check pharmacies to see if they can fill this type script before requesting doctor to send in order.

My husbands doc faxes the order down to infuserve. He gets a months supply of claforan at a time. He started on Rocephan but it made his liver enzymes elevate. So he had to switch. He sees a visiting nurse each week for a blood draw and dressing change. He also gets his dressings and lines from infuserve. They are extremely helpful. Their pharmacist is excellent to. Will answer all your questions.
