I've had tearing in one eye only for a long time. Sometimes a steady stream for no reason. The other eye is so dry it's difficult to get hard contact lens out.
Also, the lid on the dry eye has been drooping more and more and as I become very fatigued at the end of the day it almost closes.
Have a dull ache around that eyeball sometimes that comes and goes.
Also, corner of my mouth on that side droops too, but don't think any of this is Bells palsy from what I've read.
I have an appointment at the end of March with an opthamologist who does blepharoplasty's and unplugs tear ducts, but wondering if this IS lyme is that the way to go?
Anyone else experience this?
Seems to me since both my eyes are the same age, why is only one doing this?

It is lyme. I have the exact same problems. Save your money. I wasted my on eye doctors only to have them let me go with out finding out what was wrong. My Lyme dr. said it was from lyme.

The drooping could be from muscle fatigue. Oddly, I too had a dry irritated eye (which turns out had nerve demylenation), and that eye also would droop over the course of the day. Usually by lunchtime.
Treatment of Lyme and Bart reversed the demylenation, and the drooping was muscle fatigue. Your body is putting all it's energy into fighting infection, so you run out of 'gas' early in the day.
Try putting a drop of Peppermint Oil above each eyebrow - it refreshes the muscles and also the brain. I did this for a few months while on treatment, and eventually no longer needed it.
Can't find peppermint oil? Go to www.youngliving.com (not pitching, just sharing a great source for essential oils).

How do they determine it's demylenation? By observation or with tests?
My contact lens optician was concerned when I saw her yesterday and wanted me to see this specialist rather than any of the eye doctors in the clinic there.
After seeing me she said she didn't think he'd do a blepharoplasty, but might do bo-tox. I don't think I want any botox in me.
I read about the procedure for opening the duct and it sounds unpleasant to me.
Did yours get better with lyme treatment, sick?
I'm going to get the peppermint oil and put it just over left eye onlly and see if that keeps me from looking lopsided!

The nerve demylenation was determined by some type of cool looking colored test at the opthomologists- I'm sorry but the name completely escapes me. They actually showed me what it looked like.
