I have these weird black spots (look like blackheads, except they aren't) around the area where I get my Bicillin injections in my gluteal muscles.

They weren't there before the injections started, but are there now. Its as if bugs or something are rising to the surface.

Anyone else get this?

When I check my blood sugar, I sometimes get black dots, but they are like a tiny bruise exactly where the needle goes in. They come about a day after. I don't think that's the same as what you are describing though.

Sometimes when you pull the needle out you can nick a tiny surface blood vessel and get some bleeding under the skin. Sometimes it will bleed enough that you might need a band-aid. Does the spot look like that?

Is is just one little black dot where the injection was? Or are you seeing multiple tiny dots around where the injection was?

No...multiple (dozens) of tiny spots in an area (2-3 inches radius) from the injection site.

i have no allergy to penicillin BTW

Did your wife pinch the injection site before giving the shot or did you rub the site hard after the shot? You guys might have pinched or rubbed too hard and broke the tiny blood vessels giving you the little red/black looking spots.

If your wife was taught to pinch before the shot, ask her to try bracing the skin and gently pulling it downwards (towards your leg) instead. Then give the shot. When you pull the needle out the skin goes back to it's original position and the medicine is trapped. This is called a "z-track". The nurse may/probably already taught you this, I'm just reinforcing, just incase.

Nope..no pinching and we weren't taught the z-track.

the black spots actually flake off if I scrub them. Weird. It's like I"m detoxing or something.

Could it be adhesive residue from the bandaid? Sometimes that can hang around for days? Material can cling to it and give it color?

I guess I have a hard time believing in detox near the Bicillin LA injection site.

Boy sounds tho like you are doing good. SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A GOOD DOCTOR.

I wouldn't worry about the tiny spots since you say they peel off anyway. I know way before when on bicillin LA which is thicker I would get like lump after & purlish..one lyme dr. who I only went to once said it probably wasn't doing anything then as it wasn't being absorbed. the bicillin LA esp. should be injected very slowly.

I when on the bicillin - I now restarted with bicillin CR do get reaction..arths, etc. tired for about 2 days, then does seems to be a bit better after. Complicated...but since you say 90 some % sounds like you are on your way.....

I just noticed your post: A lyme dr. said once if you get lumps -she said it probably wasn't doing anything - wasn't getting absorbed in body, just setteled in lump, injected too fast?

Some nurses aren't too swift on injecting bicillin esp the LA which Dr. B recommends now. They put it in fast. I also read one should rub the vial between hands before.I mentioned that to nurse & she said Oh it already is mixed. Yes but when it is sitting in refrigerator etc. it settles. What a dumbo remark.

I also after would get purple bruise marks sometimes like vascular. This was way before.
I do have a form of collagen lyme vasculits plus ACA and other varients of it.

This lyme dr. I went to once dropped me like a hot potatoe as blood test came back negative MDL in NJ. In 09 etc. Igenex I had positive plus positive on their 31 epitope test that shows if one has late state chronic lyme.
