Last week, after starting to feel much better, my energy completely crashed. Some other symptoms (dry skin/hair, low blood pressure) got much worse. I'm also INCREDIBLY thirsty.

The biggest issue is fatigue though- I can hardly drag myself out of bed in the morning. The fatigue is unbelievable, but my 11 or so it is a bit better. and if I am not careful about going to sleep early, I end up getting insomnia and suddenly NOT feeling tired later in the evening

To me, the fatigue part seems to point to adrenal fatigue, only because it's like whatever is supposed to give me energy to "wake up" in the morning is missing in the morning, but screwed up in the evening.

Anyone else have fatigue like that?

Yes. Get an RX for low dose Cortef, it will really help you. 5-10mg in the AM will get things going in the AM.

You should have your glucose assessed as excessive thirst can be a sign of diabetes. So, just be safe about that and rule it out.

You might also want to ensure that your thyroid is functioning properly. Some of the symptoms that you described sound like those of a hypothyroid state.

My recommendation if you request to have your thyroid checked, is to ask for a comprehensive test of thyroid function, i.e. TSH, T3/T4, TPO Ab, etc. There are many types of thyroid tests, and it is important to look at more than just one test (as symptoms can occur for some even if they fall in the classified 'normal range' of the TSH, T3/T4).

I had just such this situation occur recently!

Yeah...I know in theory it could be diabetes, but I'm hoping not. I have no genetic predisposition, am young and not overweight...

You know, they thyroid thing could definitely be an issue too. I've had so many symptoms of hypothyroidism that I've been tested a ton.

In Nov. I had a test that showed low thyroid (aka high TSH, lower end of normal other Ts), but then when my doctor re-tested in 6 weeks it was normal, so he decided not to do anything.

Anyway, I'll bring it up to my ND and my doctor (the ND is Lyme literate. The MD is kinda sorta willing to treat me). I'll make sure to write all your ideas down too, so I can ask for specific tests

(my MD is ok, but not always aware of all the other problems Lyme can cause, and really hesitant to treat without definitive blood work)

My glucose levels went high on ABX and then settled down after starting cortef..

(of course we tested and my adrenals were crashing...)

And yes, thyroid should be checked as well, but even though most regular doc's don't know to test
in this order

it's suppose to be test adrenals first, then thyroid...

If your adrenals are weak and you don't treat them 1st; ie given thyroid meds,

it will still continue to stress the adrenals..

and, these imbalances in the HPA can be caused by the stealth infections..
