I haven't been on abx since early 2009..now I find myself treating Bartonella once again. I was also treated for Lyme and the doctor feels that is gone.
I started on the Rifampin/Minocycline 2 weeks ago. Within 24 hours I was feeling like I was not going to last through the day. Now two weeks later I am still experiencing severe nerve pain in my calfs and feet and horrible insomnia. I am doubling up on sleep meds and still can't fall asleep or stay asleep. These are two of my primary symptoms anyway but they are so much worse.
I am wondering how long this is going to last as I am so tempted to stop the meds...I know bad idea but I have to work a couple days a week and it is almost impossible. I can't function on such little sleep and feel like I am on another planet.

I only went through herxing with Rocephin which wasn't even this bad....It was so long ago I don't remember how long it lasted.
Anyone have any tips on how to get through this or how long this will last.
I want to quit so bad but know I would have gone through two weeks of misery for nothing if I do that.

It did clear up my vocal cord paralysis so I know it is doing something....
Thanks

I am sure this has been written about somewhere here already.

What is the dosage you are taking.Lower the dosage and keep the high dosage only on the days you are not working or stay on small dosages until you can handle the increase.
You do not have to be in high dosages since in the begining.

I had forgotten that I got a bad herx after 2 weeks on bart meds. It gets worse before it gets better, but the meds are definately killing it. Even my feet got worse for about 2+ mos (frustrating, I know, but my doc said that was normal). Hang in there. Clearing up your vocal cord paralysis is awesome!

I am taking the lower dose of Rifampin..I just upped it today since I am not working for another 5 days. The doctor told me to take it slow but I didn't think I would be this bad off.

The nerve pain in my leg is almost unbearable so I know the abx on hitting the target.
Clearing up my vocal cord paralysis was unbelievable...I have my wonderful Lyme doctor to thank for that!
