I guess I already know the answer to the question we all ask: "How long will treatment take?" Which is....
"everybody is different, depends on length of infection, type & number of infections, individual's immune system, ability to detox, etc..."
But I'm curious to hear what everyone has to say here especially with respect to planning pregnancy.
I've been treated for Lyme & cos with various combos of oral meds for almost 10 months. We think I've had Lyme for at least 8 years.
I've entered the "advanced maternal age" range and I plan on trying to get pregnant with my first as soon as I'm well (despite my LLMD's advice).
I'm afraid to wait too long and I'm also afraid to be sick while pregnant or pass infection on to a child.
My Dr plans on putting me on antibiotics safe for pregnancy. His biggest concern is the likelihood of relapse after giving birth which I guess he sees often in his practice.
I'd say I'm 65-70% better but have hit a plateau for about 5 months. I would like to start trying to get pregnant as soon as possible.
Any input would be appreciated.

Hi gratitude, I don't have any answers but I'm hoping someone comes along soon who's been there. I'm where you're at right now - Ive had Lyme and co's for 6 years and been treating on and off for about 4. I'll be 33 in a few months and I reeeally want to start having children soon.
My biggest concern is passing Lyme on to my child. I think I could handle a relapse, but a sick child would just push me over the edge. Not sure I could live with the guilt of that.
I'm getting married in three weeks and my soon-to-be hubby knows all of the risks and all of my concerns. We've talked about adoption and in the end that may be the direction we decide to take.
Best of luck to you.

Dr. J, the best Lyme pediatrician, has put together a protocol for pregnant women with Lyme which can be followed with your own doctor. I will pm you with his contact information.

Thank you Keebler & Hoping for the information.
I'm afraid I might need to wait much longer than I would like to try to conceive. It's so difficult to accept.
Lauren, that's great that your fianc is so supportive. That makes all the difference on this journey.
We haven't talked about adoption yet but maybe we need to consider that. I wish you the best of luck too...
