After about 2 weeks on beta glucan, I'm still having upset stomach, queasiness, and diarrhea. Will I eventually adjust?

I'm also just feeling blah, no pep, no focus.

I'm supposed to take 1-2 350mg capsules twice per day. I've only been able to take just 1 cap for the whole day.

If I switched to a lower dose, would it still help my immune system?

Thanks.

Are you sure it is the beta glucan that is making you feel ill? I'm just starting to take it....I've taken a 250 mg tablet on an empty stomach on Tuesday, Thursday and today. I've had no problems so far. Next week I'll take one every day, then the following week ramp up to eventually 1000 mg day.

What brand of Beta Glucan are you taking?

Sorry you are feeling so poorly..

Timaca

I'm pretty sure it's the beta glucan. The brand I'm taking is Immutol http://www.immunocorp.com/
which was recommended by my LLMD.

It sounds like you are starting out at a bit of a lower dose, and taking it every other day. Maybe that's a better way to become used to it, going a bit slower.

I'm going to skip today and tomorrow, and call my Dr. on Monday. Thanks for your reply.

Hopeful4

I was never able to tolerate Beta Glucan or any supplement with it in it. I think they get it from yeast or something which I'm very allergic to. I had no focus, depression, and anxiety from it.

Truesun- that's interesting. Yes, it's made from yeast. I'll have to look into that.

So I didn't take any yesterday, I was taking it with dinner. I felt much better today, still had just a little bit of diarrhea, but no queasy stomach or lack of focus. I was a bit tired, and just took a couple of naps.

My appetite was better and I was able to do a little cooking. So overall, I feel better.

Thanks for the replies.

I take Beta Glucan by Xymogen. It's been very helpful.

panicphreak,

Did you have an side-effects from it? And how many mg do you use?

Do you know if it helped your CD57 improve? How has it helped you, that would be helpful to know.

Thanks.

Just talked with my doctor's office. They said to stop the Immutol (beta glucan) for a week, which I've already stopped.

Next, to detox for a week by taking Vit C, activated charcoal, magnesium citrate, and lemon water. Do this for a week, then go back on the Immutol (beta glucan).

So it sounds like I was herxing after all. Maybe the beta glucan helped my immune system to go after the lyme, and the die-off was causing the herx.

Keep us posted on how restarting it goes.

I'm taking one (250 mg) capsule every other day. Next week I will try one capsule daily....

Best, Timaca
