It seems like I am having some yeast issues and I need to take my prescription of Diflucan.

For some reason I am finding myself petrified of trying diflucan for fear of herxing.

I have felt so bad lately (been sick alot) I just can't bear to take something extra that could make me feel worse but I know I probably need it.

Anyway, would it be ok to break the diflucan pill in pieces?

Probably... call your pharmacist to see.

If you go on the diet, your die-off will be reduced and you will get well more quickly.

100mg or 200mg??

I broke my 200 mg in half to begin with and then worked my way up to a whole pill.

I agree about calling the pharmacist. Some pills should not be split.

I have also cut them... but best to ask the experts or read your drug info sheet.

Thanks for the info. It is fluconazole 150 mg. I will call the pharmacist to be sure, just wanted to know if other lymies do this.

I only feel better on diflucan. No herxing. Part of me wishes I could take it all the time. My sinuses are the best ever on the stuff.

Though you Could, I'd stick w/ the dosing recommended by your doc.
When I started it, I didn't notice any negative effects... only positive.
It really helps out with any yeast issues.

And since Diflucan doesn't Kill BB, but only weaken it/ stress it, it's likey you won't "herx", if at all, until a day or so AFTER the next batch of Lyme antibiotic is taken.

Honestly, I wouldn't be too concerned.
Starting oral Flagl can make your stomach sink. Diflucan rarely has such side effects [Wink]

And remember- If you DO split the tablet in 1/2 say, do it Carefully & Always take the other 1/2 as the next dose.
This way you get exactly the full tablet dose over the 2 swallows.

BTW, How much is each tablet?... 200mg?
