I want to go see a doc in my area but they do not work with any insurance providors. They said they would provide me with forms to submit to my insurance.

I called my insurance (CIGNA) and they said they would not. I do not have any out of network benefits.

What insurance do you have and do they pay for your Visits, labs, tests, meds, etc? If so, what percentage?

Thank you for any and all responses!

hi phort, i have aetna hmo and also have NO out of network coverage, so i pay $300 for each visit, however they use quest lab at my office, so all of my labwork is covered. See if they can send you to a lab that is in your network, you should NOT have to pay for any labwork, and you can't it would be thousands of dollars, and your gonna have multiple lab work, also my insurance would not pay for my iv's in the office, so i am doing them through an in network home health agency, which my insurance is paying for all the infusions in full, they said it was ok that an out of network doctor prescribed them, as long as i used an in network home health. I'm getting my picc line in tomorrow after one month of going back and forth w/hospitals, and insurance companies, but there always seems to be a way around things, I know it's exhausting trying to deal with all this when your so sick.

If not coverage for naturopathic appointments, some insurances pay for acupuncture for specific pain diagnoses - mostly short term. But even that can be a bit of a help.

Some NDs are also licensed acupuncturists (L.Ac.) and some are registered with some insurance companies.

I cross searched: Cigna, acupuncture

and they do cover it for some policies for some things.

But they only allow 15 minute appointments. That is not at all long enough for a good appointment with the L.Ac. and for treatment.

It's not just popping in some the needles and sending on on their way.

A good L.Ac. needs to talk to the patient and there's a lot of life-style instruction that also needs to be explained. There will be questions and answers.

Also, some sessions involve resting quieting for 20 - 30 minutes while needles are in.

So, even as some insurances say they cover acupuncture, be sure to read the fine print.

Yes, my insurance covers Naturopath visits. State law where I live requires insurance to cover "alternative medicine," though some insurance plans only cover a limited number of visits per year.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Razzle and Randi, which insurances do you have?

My employer is looking for health insurance companies and i'm assisting with the search. I'm hoping to find one that does, hence my question.

ANyone know if anthem blue cross does? or ANY that does? We're in NH.

Thanks!

Even if insurance does not cover ND or L.Ac., etc. most costs are tax deductible.

I have blue cross, just got back my whopping $25 out of the 700+ bill.

The explanation on the benefits sheet was in words I don't understand!

I will try calling next week, just to understand how they found another reason to deny money.
