Oral abx seem to be destroying my already destroyed GI system (I believe due to lyme). I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has done IV abx and whether or not they found IV abx easier to tolerate than oral on their stomach. Thanks....

Hi Sky, in my case the IV is definitely easier on the stomach. I had trouble tolerating even short periods of oral antibiotics.
Had a good run on Rocephin (about three months) pulsing it four days on and three days off. Now on IV Zithro, which i decided to do every other day to give stomach a break. There are bad days when the nausea is intense, but overall it's so much easier on the stomach than oral zithro.
I also took breaks and did Buhner herbs, which gave me a good improvement with Borrelia and Babesia, but not bartonella and Ehrlichia.

Thanks for the reply. My issue is pain. My whole abdominal region is very tender and and anything I seem to eat or drink, including abx seems to lead to more pain. Anyone have improvements in their GI problems/abdominal pain with IV rocephin?

I am currently on Rocephin IV after 6 months of multiple orals.
I have morning sickness like nausea each morning. I do my dose right before bed each evening. I also have mild to moderate diarrhea, that I can tolerate.
Most orals did not bother my stomach, but I got rediculous diarrhea from ceftin. Both Rocephin and Ceftin are cephalosporins, so maybe I'm just sensitive to that class of antibiotics.

As for me, I have not had any GI issues with IV antibiotics, very little nausea. Orals made me quite sick to my stomach, including causing me to vomit meals sometimes soon after eating. Good luck.
