Just curious to know if there is any relation between toxoplasmosis and lyme. Can ticks carry toxo?

I don't think so:

Toxoplamosis is a parasite contracted from cat feces, undercooked meat and some other sources.

I know...I love my job too - but haven't been able to work lately [Frown] . I live in a VERY high risk area too.

I wondered too thought because why do labs that specialize in tick borne illnesses test for this then? Like Fry labs has a test for this. Any thoughts?

It's one of those things that seems like it would fit right along with bart and babs....maybe it is the similar symptoms or maybe it's because some of the meds used to treat babs/bart/lyme are often used to treat toxoplasmosis???? Maybe it is a potential tick borne disease???

Not really sure, but that is interesting info.

Toxoplasmosis is carried by cats, and since cats are very involved in the many different bartonella types,(Cat scratch Disease), it is very likely that it is part of the DNA of the infecting carrier.

My husband had it. Dr. K. found it and treated it. Neuro symptoms. It apparently was very common among HIV people.

Gigi, I'm curious how Dr. K. treated toxo? Conventionally it is treated with very powerful antifungals I believe.

LymeCFIDS, He treated it once with a homeopathic toxo injected similar to neural therapy. It took a couple of minutes and that took care of it.

I was PCR positive for toxoplasmosis. I was just beginning lyme treatment, and my LLMD treated with six weeks of Daraprim and Zithromax, as well as folinic acid. Sulfadiazine is usually used instead of Zithromax, but I'm allergic to sulfa.

Toxo is a protozoa like malaria and babesia.
