1. Is the use of a sauna part of your current regular therapy. Yes, but I am only able to get to the sauna 1x a week.
If I am feeling particularly symptomatic, I try to make it to the sauna.
I don't sweat as much as I expected I would when I first started using saunas. I'm not sure if it is more a personal thing or has something to do with the Lyme.
I always see an increase in 'normal' functioning a day or so after the sauna. It seems to work for me.

I've been using a personal Far-Infr red sauna for about five years. I'm in it for 40 to 45 minutes at around 140 degrees. I sweat a LOT.
I "rest" for ten to fifteen minutes and then shower. Then I "rest" again.
I've never used (and can't tolerate) a steam sauna.

I use an infrared sauna. Only about every two weeks for about thirty minutes. It moves heavy metals so I use it with lots of binders before and after. I have a heavy metal problem so it gets things moving and I feel really bad after using it. I dont sweat normally because of the heavy metals so this helps with detox.
My Dr. and I agree this can be helpful but I have to take it slow.

Want to add that I do this from 0 to 5 times per week (five times is very rare - I average 2 - 3 in a good week) but can't do them in the summer as I can't tolerate heat well. I always feel better afterward and for the following 24 hours or so.
If you feel bad afterward I think that means you are pretty toxic and should go very slow. The above poster's comments make total sense to me.

I bought an infrared sauna on craigslist a couple of months ago. I used it about 5 times, for 15-20 minutes each time.
My symptoms exploded. Took weeks to recover to baseline sick. My vision has still not recovered. I am trying to do other detox methods. Hope I can use it again someday, sigh. Just my experience. TS
