My granddaughter has always been a sickly child She cried the entire first year of her life. Nothing could console her.
At eighteen months she ended up in the hospital with what they called an adverse reaction to antibiotics. Forgot which one she was on. Her poor litle body looked like she had been beaten. She was black and blue over her entire body. The doctors were bringing interns in to show them that she was not beaten it was a medication she reacted to.
Over the years it has been a multitued of things. Rage, depression, unable to socialize-fit in.
Now they're saying she has bi-polar.
She has unexplained abdominal pain-she's had every test known to mankind-they found nothing.
Out of the clear blue,she has sudden bouts of feeling like she's going to vomit.
She has shortness of breathe, knee pain, insomnia and I've forgotten what else.
Now they are putting her on Prozac!!
God give me strenth!!
Does this sound like lyme or am I just paranoid????

I am sorry your granddaughter is having so many symptoms.
I think it would be a good idea for her to be evaluated for Lyme by a knowledgeable doctor.
Does her mother have Lyme?

Could be Lyme, but also look into the possibility that she has parasites/worms especially since she feels like she wants to vomit.
It's a signal that the body is trying to expel something. Check out the symptom list at HUMAWORM and do a search for parasites.
So sorry that you're going thru this.
P. S. You are not paranoid and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Doglover, you�ve been around here for a few years, I think you what everyone is going to say.
Yes, it all sounds like Lyme and Co's.
You should get her to a LLMD, and get here tested ASAP.
I hate to see these little ones so sick; I hope you can get her to a doc soon!

glm1111 is right, could be parasites, worms. Yes Americans do get worms, not just people who live in the tropics.
Also food intolerances. Sounds benign, but it could be a multi layered case of pathogens, no good gut bacteria and an intolerance say to lactose or wheat. A good Dr. or N.D. is key. If they don't listen, walk out the door. So sorry to hear about your grandchild. Good luck!

My daughter also got bit and has it too. She has migrating pains. One day the arm, next day the leg and she limps. She has complained about headaches and tummy aches consistently.
My daughter also has fits of crying. Not a single day goes by without her crying for something multiple times.
My niece who lives next door to me also contracted it and she has tiredness, recurrent ear infections and belly aches as well.
The symptom list you described are HIGHLY suspicious of Lyme.

Been after my daughter to have her tested for years. She doen't take me seriously. I called my LLMD 's office. having the paperwork sent to my daughter. I'm gonna fill it out with her. She said she would take her .
They already tested her for parasites. Put a scope down her throat into her small intestines. Not celiac Did have milk sensitivity - out grew that.
I'm so hoping she can get in relatively soon. Poor kid s going thru hell. She's so miserable.

Sound more like bartonella , lyme maybe parasites too.My son cryed the first year and was vomiting non stop.
I had activated bart and assymtomatic in babs and lyme before having him .

Have they ever done any PCR or tissue biopsy tests?...looking for things LIKE Lyme or any parasites?
Why was she put on this medication at 18 months of age? What WAS that antibiotic? Was she declared allergic to that family of abx?
What has her yearly physical development shown? Has she been underweight the whole time?
WAY too many questions come up, based on that description of yours, & certainly not enough to try to Dx over the Internet. It COULD be Lyme, but the sudden acute nausea (with no abx, that is!) sounds more like [a] parasite[s] in the GI tract. A mystery for sure.
Glad "mom" has agreed to take her to the LLMD's. Let us know how it turns out. Best of luck to her!

OH-God-no... Not another kid on Prozac! That's a serious brain med that she'll be addicted to. As if she doesn't have *enough* problems...
Better to do more tests (any Western blots ever run?) than to "discard" her & dope her on some behavioral meds.

Oh, that poor girl. She may have several tick borne infections.
A med like Prozac can correct the serotonin imbalance, and might relieve many of her symptoms.

Kete: she was put on amoxicillin for an ear infection. it turned into eurythema multiforme.
Shes behind in her development-physically. Mentally she's very intelligent, reads at college level, has since she was eight years old.
She's very, very thin, always been underweight.
Manybites: I asked about vomiting the first year and she did-my daughter was told it was GERD.
ESG: She's had these symptoms for years, some since birth.
I am so anxious to get her tested. If it's not lyme at least it can be ruled out. If it is, we can finally get her help.

I hope you don't mean you're going to rule out Lyme because of (Blood Test)??? If so, please read Dr. B's note below.
DIAGNOSTIC HINTS Lyme Borreliosis (LB) is diagnosed clinically, as no currently available test, no matter the source or type, is definitive in ruling in or ruling out infection with these pathogens, or whether these infections are responsible for the patient's symptoms. The entire clinical picture must be taken into account, including a search for concurrent conditions and alternate diagnoses, and other reasons for some of the presenting complaints.
Often, much of the diagnostic process in late, disseminated Lyme involves ruling out other illnesses and defining the extent of damage that might require separate evaluation and treatment. Consideration should be given to tick exposure, rashes (even atypical ones), evolution of typical symptoms in a previously asymptomatic individual, and results of tests for tick-borne pathogens.
Another very important factor is response to treatment- presence or absence of Jarisch Herxheimer-like reactions, the classic four-week cycle of waxing and waning of symptoms, and improvement with therapy.

Doglover- getting her to a great LLMD is the best solution I have heard of yet. That is great that you are in her corner and I am so sorry for what she has had to go through.
Steve makes a good point. Igenex would be my lab of choice, you couldn't pay me to use Labcorp. What a joke...

her symptoms are the same as my 9 yr old's were. She had all that, less the vomiting and antibiotic rash, and had elevated strep titer, mycoplasma, bart, babs and lyme.
Prozac gave me headaches. Made my lyme worse. Watch closely.

I am having my granddaughter see an LLMD. The dr. I currently am seeing. He uses Igenex so I am comfortable we will get good results and my LLMD will know how to treat her. If not, we will take her to the childrens lyme specialist in CT. Hoping we can finally find out whats wrong with her.
