My husband uses it, and it's like a miracle! He uses Oreganol, which is liquid, in a bottle with a dropper. A few drops in his mouth right before a meal works perfectly.

- I can never take this UNLESS in protective gel caps. It can really burn my sensitive G.I. tissue.
Now, some can "do" this but for anyone with reflux, IMO, they just might not be able to take this at all.
Or, should only do the gel caps (start with one with a meal and see how that goes.) Although a couple drops in water for a good mouthwash can be helpful.
Just don't swallow if you have reflux. The lining of the esophagus is likely just too raw and any strong oil can burn.
If you do still use the drops, be sure to have in lots of water and follow with a good oil that will not burn, like coconut oil. Or, as baileypup's husband, take right before a meal. -

Internal use of essential oils should be limited to a maximum of 4 weeks. In cases of continued application, allow 2 weeks break between courses for 1 week of use. . . .
. . . Do not take pure essential oil of Oregano internally.
Note that [this brand of] oil of Oregano contains essential oils, but is not a pure essential oil. . . . -

I don't know how or why the Oil of Oregano helps, but it does. It was recommended to him by a naturopath, and he didn't ask a lot of questions. I read on-line that many have been helped with it. It also comes in liquid caps, but don't know if that would be as effective.
My thinking is that my husband's reflux is caused by a hiatal hernia, therefore he may be getting a backwash of bacteria which the Oreganol (brand) helps to balance. It also has an olive oil base, which helps digestion.
I'm also a big fan of Gaia products like Keebler.

I am on ADP by Biotics Research. No sure if it is working or not but I starter this week and my mild nerver pain is almost home. Heart Skips are better althought I felt a mild one today :-(
My thinking is that it is helping kill some bacteria in my gut. There has been some research that call the gut our second brain.

Be careful using Oregano Essential Oil if you have Bartonella.
The oil EASILY penetrates the CNS and with it's oxidative effects (oregano oil uses OXYGEN to kill) can actually stir up Bart and activate it.
So if you find the following symptoms coming on from oregano - you might consider this (teeth grinding, irritable, anxiety, muscle twitching, poor sleep, frequent urination)
Took me a month to figure this out. And the oregano wasn't eradicating Bart (like Houtuynia def does)
